Since 2004, Anna has been involved in generating over $2.4 million in research funding exploring the health workforce in metropolitan and regional/rural settings internationally and in Australia. She completed her PhD in Health Services Research in 2009 titled ‘An evaluation of the contribution of support workers to the delivery and outcomes of community rehabilitation and intermediate care services in England’. She has also worked in academic positions teaching Research Methods to medical and allied health students and implementing, coordinating and supervising higher degree research programs.

Dr Anita HorvathAnita is Director, Clinical Research in the Department of Medical Education, Melbourne Medical School, at The University of Melbourne. Anita has extensive experience in training early career researchers and post-graduate students performing literature reviews. She’s the course convenor of the Master of Clinical Research program, the Master of Research program and the Bachelor of Medical Science program.

Dr Ken ChinKen is a clinical epidemiologist with a particular interest in heart failure, diabetes, epidemiology, health economics, clinical trials and registries. Ken’s specific expertise is in large datasets, data linkage and analyses for comparative effectiveness research and HTA. Ken has a strong track record, with publications in highly ranked journals including The Lancet and European Journal of Heart Failure. Ken is actively involved in collaborations with industry, especially with regards to development of economic models for PBAC submissions and clinical trials. Ken is also Lecturer in Clinical Research for the Master of Clinical Research program.

Dr Charles MalpasCharles is a research fellow in the Clinical Outcomes Research Unit (CORe) at the Department of Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital. His research at CORe covers the neurocognitive disorders and epilepsy, and involves the application of advanced statistical modelling to answer clinically relevant questions. Charles completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuroimaging at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) where he was supported by an NHMRC Peter Doherty Australian Biomedical Fellowship. Clinically, he is a board-endorsed neuropsychologist (MAPS FCCN), currently working in the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at The Alfred Hospital. Charles is also a subject coordinator within the Master of Clinical Research, teaching data analysis and biostatistics.

Dr Rebecca Disler Rebecca works as a Senior Research Fellow in Chronic Ill Health as part of the Melbourne Medical School, Department of Rural Health. Her research focus is on improving health service delivery and modelling for patients with chronic disease, and in particular: supportive and end-stage care; addressing cognitive impairment as an influence on health behaviours in chronic disease; and innovative approaches to early detection and tailoring of care. Rebecca has established expertise in quantitative and qualitative research approaches, as well as Cochrane systematic review, qualitative metasynthesis and Delphi technique. Rebecca is currently running two studies: 1. Mapping palliative care for people with chronic disease across rural Victoria, and 2. Trialling a Healthy Brain Ageing program for people with chronic lung disease in Albury and Wodonga. In 2017 Rebecca was award an Early Career Achievement award from the American Thoracic Society. She also sits on the Thoracic Society ANZ Victorian Executive Board and is national Convenor for the: Symptom Support and Palliative Care; Evidence Based Practice; and Nursing Special Interest Groups.
