WORKSHOP ON ONLINE LABS   

Online labs for school experiments ( OLABS ) is a novel e‐ learning project and is considered by CBSE for inclusion in teacher training programme . Olabs work on web environment and provide experience in online practical science experiments .  Maharaja Agrasen Model School in association with Amrita University , Kerala and CDAC Mumbai conducted this workshop . The session was addressed by Mr. Chandrashekhar , Project Associate ,Amrita Create .  The workshop was attended by Mrs. Rekha Malhotra (Science department ) and Mrs. Babita Mann ( Maths department ).   The expert explained features of OLABS ,Online labs Vs Real labs , curriculum and the Simulation ( where lab experiments done ).He also gave ademo on Olab working in different subjects like Physics ,Chemistry , Biology , Mathematics and English .   

                

             

 

Report of visit to AIIMS All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) took an initiative in 2014 to help those in need by forming a welfare society 'PARIVARTAN', the social wing of SU, AIIMS. Parivartan’s main motive is improvement of primary education and medical facilities for orphans. Throughout the year, they conduct fund raising events to collect money for poor and others in need. The money collected is used in various activities that include: ‐  Donations to orphanage 'ANGELS HOME' to support their cause.  A number of food drives and a blanket distribution drive for the patients and their relatives As a part of this they organised the annual event *Catalyst* on 27‐04‐2017 in which the  undergraduates at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi demonstrated the following: ‐ Cadaveric anatomical and pathological specimens‐  1. Brain, brainstem and spinal cord   2. Human Skeleton; limbs with bones and muscles intact   3. Heart and major blood vessels   4. Lungs and airways.   5. Liver, Spleen, Kidneys   6. Stomach and intestines   7. Placenta and umbilical cord   8. Eye   Microscopic specimens‐  1. Spinal cord 2. Skin  3. Skeletal and cardiac muscles. 4. Bacteria and other pathogens  Demonstration of ECG, Spirometry,AV reaction timerBlood groups differentiation Knowledge and demonstration of poisonous plants and animals, etc. for awarenesspurposes..  XI and XII Biology students visited the expo along with Mrs Sarika Jain. It was an enriching experience for all. Students took keen interest and asked questions. 

 

3rd PRIZE IN INTERSCHOOL COMPETITION Gyanmandir Public School organised it's annual interschool event *Abhivyakti* on 2nd May in which they conducted an array of competitions, one of which was JAL JOSH herbal drink competition where the students were supposed to prepare a nutritive herbal drink.  RitikaSachdeva and ShauryaVerma of class XI bagged *3rd prize* by preparing drinks made up of barley and black grams. Judges appreciated their innovative efforts. They were given Trophies and certificates.  Ms.Sarika Jain  

 

THE GREEN OLYMPIAD The Green Olympiad ‐‐‐ organised by TERI ( The Energy And Resources Institute ) is India’s premier Annual Environment Examination for school children .  Our school is an active member of this project .In August 2016 , 55 students of our school from classes VI to VIII participated . Out of which 02 students , Aryan of class VII C and Vishesh Aggarwal of class VIII B got Certificate of Distinction (scoring 80% above ) and 10 students got Certificate of Merit (scoring between 70% ‐ 80% ). All other students got certificate of participation . . Participation in the GREEN OLYAMPIAD is an excellent opportunity for students to test their ENVIRONMENTAL QUOTIENT and enhance their appreciation of their environment.  

 

WORKSHOP REPORT To activate the young minds and to develop inquisitiveness and problem solving skills in our students a workshop on 'Enquiry Based Learning' (EBL) was conducted on 11/5/17 in Remal Public School,sector‐3,Rohini by Mrs. RupamSah the CEO of Quality Education Asia. The workshop was attended by Mrs. KamaldeepNarulaand Mrs. PreetiGoel.  The main objective of the workshop was to awaken the dreamers, encourage them to learn through investigation and participation. The resource person emphasised on six E's of constructivism through EBL technique i.e Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate and Extend. The useful application of enquiry based learning is the Art of Questioning that direct us towards our objectives. This technique of learning make our students independent, more confident and competitive.  The workshop was quite enriching and a great learning experience for us.

 Second session was a 'Role play' where teachers were asked to play a role of circuit , resistance etc. to convey the concepts of physics without chalk duster and any physics equipment. That session reminded us our childhood and was very fungoing. 

 Third session was Hands on experience of all the demonstrated activities where actually we learnt that what problems we can face while performing the activities.  

On the whole, workshop was a combination of innovation , creativity, fun and full of subject enrichment. Workshop was concluded with the blessings and motivating words of Mr. Suraj Prakash, Director of training centre at BBPS Pitampura. He is a constant source of inspiration . 

 As a follow up definitely these activities will be discussed and shared with students and science faculty members so that they can perform these activities while teaching concepts of physics to students.

ISA ACTIVITY 

STREET PLAY Wildlife Trafficking is a global trade in illegal wildlife that threatens the biodiversity leading to extinction of various species. It has disturbed the ecological balance and it leads to inhuman killing of wild animals. Today man’s greed for ivory, tiger skin, live reptiles, fur leather etc. and to earn big profits has caused severe destruction of wildlife. To value the wildlife a Street Play Competition in ISA ACTIVITYwas organised on 24/07/2017, MONDAY in the school premises under the guidance of Mrs. Kamaldeep and Mrs. RekhaMalhotra. The students collected the information about trade of various animals like Rhino, Elephants, Tigers, and Birds etc. in various countries like Indonesia, India, South Africa, and China etc. They presented it in their skit and emphasised on the role of every individual to save the wild life. They created awareness and sited slogans and showcased the poor conditions of our wildlife. It was indeed a great learning experience for the students.

Assembly on Wildlife Trafficking 

 Students of XB conducted morning assembly on *Wildlife Trafficking* on 09‐10‐17 in which they presented  speech and slogans on  Wildlife trade. 

 

Students and teachers  pledged not to use any Wildlife products by themselves  and will also motivate their family not to use any of these either.

ISA Project ‐ Graffiti Competition Science Department organised a Graffiti Competition for students of class X on 22‐08‐2017 in AV room, first floor.  Topic of the competition was Wildlife Trafficking. Five teams of five students each participated in the event. Each team represented different countries like India, Kenya, China, Canada, Malaysia etc. They depicted the animals that are traded, the trade routes and wildlife products along with the messages to stop Wildlife trade. They also mentioned various international associations which are working to stop this illegal Trafficking.  Judges of the competition were Ms.Charanjiv Chopra and Ms. Swati Nagar.   Principal Sir visited the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of students. Mr. Prashant,  Managing Committee member also visited the venue and lauded the efforts of the students and also gave valuable inputs to improvise the efforts.  The graffities were also shown to school students of class six onwards. Mrs. Sarika Jain 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Report Of Physics Workshop   B.V.N. – Anveshika has organised a Physics Workshop on the theme “ An excursion in  ‘Magnestism& Optics “ on  

11‐09‐17 (Monday) at Birla VidyaNiketan School. 

  Resource Person for the workshop was Mr. B.N. Ds (Former Reader in Kolkata university) .Mr. Das has shown 15‐16 simple activities on magnetism & made the topic 

very clear with theory as well. Sir gave tips how to teach the same topic in classes by simplified way. This workshop was attended by Mrs. Geeta Kumar (P.G.T. (Physics)). 

This was a very useful & enriching workshop. 

 

 

 

 

REPORT  OF WORKSHOP The best way of learning anything is by doing which is more relevant, practical and not just passive and theoretical and has a long lasting influence on children's mind. Keeping this in mind an interactive and demonstrative teacher training workshop"Witnessing Wonders in Physics"was organized at Sadhu Vaswani International school in collaboration with BVM‐IAPT Anveshika. The objective of the workshop was to expose teachers to innovative science experiments through which they can make their classrooms interesting and captivating.It also focused on teaching science by doing experiments with low cost or no cost material without a laboratory.The workshop was conducted by Mr.SamarBagchi,Ex‐Director,Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata. He demonstrated experiments on various topics like Air pressure,Magnetism, Newton's Laws, Electromagnetic induction etc for the classes 6‐10.Doing simple experiments can help to ignite the young minds towards inquisitiveness, creating interest and arousing curiosity. 

The workshop was attended by Mrs.KamaldeepNarula and Mrs.RekhaMalhotra.The workshop was quite enriching, interesting and enlightening.

REMODELLED ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE 

 

CBSE capacity building program on Remodelled Assessment Structure for class X was held at Mount Abu Public School Sector 5 Rohini. Teachers from 65 Schools attended this program conducted by Dr. Ms Shweta Singh and Dr. Ms Pragya Singh ( Joint Director from CBSE). The objective of the program was to provide a platform to question, learn and share knowledge of the new system. Teachers not only explored their knowledge of the system but were also able to clarify their doubts regarding conducting periodic tests and subject enrichment activities. Criteria of assessment was also discussed. The program was enlightening and informative.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Report on 'Cracker Free Diwali'‐‐‐‐Campaign by Science Department 

 

Diwali is the festival of lights and not burning of the limitless crackers which takes the form of air and noise  

pollution. The crackers not only pollute our environment but also cause immense suffering to birds and  

  animals.Science department conducted week long campaign in Primary, Middle and Senior level. 

 

1: Primary level: Students prepared posters and charts decorated their classes. All of them enthusiastically  

participated and spread awareness to their friends and fellow students about pollution caused and child labour  

incorporation in making of crackers. 

2: Middle level: Various events in different classes were planned. The students of class 7 organized an 'Anti  

Cracker Rally' in the school premises to sensitise everybody about disastrous effects of pollution caused by 

bursting of crackers. 

 

The students of class 8 have adopted and promoted this campaign by making beautiful posters and slogans. 

 

3: Senior Level: On 10th Oct 2017 morning assembly was conducted where a pledge was taken by students and teachers on celebrating Harit Diwali. 

Debate on the topic 'Anti Cracker Diwali' was also organised for class XI‐C in which students came out with very good points in favour of Supreme Court decision to ban the crackers. 

A message to all :‐ 

Diwali symbolises celebration but that celebration can never come at a cost of mother nature. 

 

PHYSICS SHOW

"All of Science is either Physics or stamp collecting."

'PHYSICS SHOW' was organised by Mahavir Sr Sec. School and IAPT ( Indian

association of Physics Teachers ) on 26.10.17 (Thursday) at MSMS. Dr.T.N.Ananth Krishnan was the resource person , Professor in visiting faculty in Cochin University. Sir has shown various concepts of physics in a very interesting and interactive manner. Teachers and students both were very excited and were participating enthusiastically in all activitiesshown by sir. Scientist Rutherford said "All of Physics is either impossible or trivial.It is impossible until you understand then it becomes trivial." Dr.Ananthkrishnan truly made it trivial for all of us. Program was graced by the presence of Director Sh.S.L.Jain, Mr. Suraj Prakash Director of training centre at BBPS, Principal Mr. Vivek, IAPT members Mr. O.P .Sharma, Mr.M.S.Bhandari.Science department of MSMS , Teachers from different schools and Students of classes XIC and XII C. Participants not only enjoyed the show, but learnt how Physics is so closely linked with day to day life

and can be made easy and interesting and simple with these activities. Overall it was an enriching experience for teachers and students.

ISA ACTIVITY  ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐GLOBAL FOOD FESTIVAL Science Department organised GLOBAL FOOD FESTIVAL for Class VIII students on 28th October2017 Saturday in the Biology Lab . The students prepared nutritious cuisines of countries like USA , Mexico , SriLanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, China etc. The main highlight of the event was to encourage students to take healthy food,share and celebrate everyone’s diversity by saying NO to Junk Food. There was a good response of parents, students and teachers to the festival. The Judges for the competition were Mrs. Charanjiv Chopra (HOD Science Department) and Mrs. Sarika Jain. Principal Sir also graced the festival with his prescence and took keen interest in the multi cuisine event. He announced the results and appreciated the effort put in by students about the skills learnt by them . There was a great deal of enthusiasm shown by students and their parents .
