Materials and Services Charges 2018

DECD has outlined a process for

determining Materials & Services charges

(school fees) for 2018. Each year the

Finance Committee (Governing Council)

determines the legally recoverable amount to

be charged for school fees—$310 per child

for 2018. Approval has been received by

DECD and we held a special community

meeting on Wednesday 8th November at

3.15pm. Following this meeting, the

community will now be polled before final

approval is granted.

Bushfire Information

The DECD Parent Information on Bushfire Management

brochure has been developed to provide advice and support to

parents/carers on how to prepare for the fire danger season,

and what to do in the event of a bushfire in close proximity to

our school.

Hard copies of this brochure are now available through the front

office. Additionally, you can access this brochure by visiting

the DECD website at www.decd.sa.gov.au

Outstanding Materials and Services Charges 2017

URGENT NOTICE

It has been brought to my attention that we still have

outstanding school fees owing for 2017 in excess of $14,000.

These payments are now WELL OVERDUE and compromise

our programs and planning for 2018.

Parents/Carers are requested to attend to these outstanding

amounts in full as a matter of urgency before Friday

December 1st at the absolute latest.

Beyond this date Governing Council has endorsed our Debt

Recovery Policy for 2017, which will be actioned immediately.

We thank you for you co-operation in this matter.

PE Week/Walkathon

Our whole school walkathon was held on Tuesday 21st

November as one of the final activities during PE week.

Some of the highlights included Aerobics workshops,

staff vs students dodgeball games and lots of activities

run by the Year 7 class.

Families are reminded that payments for walkathon

sponsorship are due back at school by Friday 1st

December. End of Year Raffle Baskets

Thank you to all families for supporting us in our End of Year Raffle Fundraiser. Please ensure all money is returned to the front office no later than Friday 1st December. Please return any unsold tickets as soon as possible. Raffle tickets will be drawn on Friday 8th December at the Community Assembly. Please ensure that phone numbers and names are written on the ticket stubs so that winners can be contacted if

they are not in attendance.

Each class has been asked to make up a basket full of prizes relating to a particular theme. In addition to these prizes we also have a staff “mystery” basket which means we will have

15 fantastic prizes up for grabs.

SCHOOL CROSSING MONITORS

Recently your child’s school took part in School Crossing Monitor Training conducted by the South Australian Police. This involves students in years 5, 6 and 7 being trained by Road Safety Educators from the SA Police Road Safety Section. After the training is complete the student will receive a Certificate of Authority issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police which, under the Road Traffic Act 1961 authorises the student to work as school crossing monitor. The certificate authorises the student to stop traffic using a Stop Sign or using Pedestrian Actuated Traffic Lights, as well as give reasonable directions to pedestrians for the safe and efficient movement of traffic at or on the crossing as in their opinion is necessary. The training involves learning how to safely stop vehicles at a school crossing and performing safety assessments on when it is safe for children to cross the road (this includes asking the monitors to check that all vehicles have stopped prior to pedestrians walking onto the crossing). The session also includes safe sign handling techniques and positioning within the crossing. It is extremely important that all people (including parents) use the crossings and become good road safety role models, by following the School Crossing Monitor’s directions, not only for their safety but the safety of all students and road users. If parents have any questions about the training the Road Safety Section is happy to receive these inquiries on the telephone number 82076586. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Thank you Acting Sergeant Nigel ALLEN Program Co-ordinator Road Safety South Australian Police
