TaxationThe level of tax is a flat rate of 10 % .Competent in matters of taxation is the National Revenue Agency www.nap.bgThe tax on the income from salary - monthly deducted and paid in the NRA by the employer. Tax declaration:
- If the salary is the only source of an employees income: no need to be filled
- If there are other sources of income should be filled and submitted to the NRA.

Social securityAccording to the Bulgarian legislation
insurance contributions are allocated as follows:employers/ employees social insurance rates = 60 % / 40 %
Total social security burden: 30.30 45.30 % /depends on the labour category/
the Pensions fund 12.80 20.80 % /depends on the labour category/ the General sickness and maternity fund 3.5%; the Work injury and occupational sickness fund between 0.4 1.1%
/paid only at the expense of the employer/; the Unemployment fund 1 %; the Obligatory additional pension insurance /only for persons born after
1960/ - 5 %; the Health insurance 8 %.

Social securityThe social contributions are deducted monthly with the payment of the remuneration.
For public servants all social contributions are paid by the state.
The individuals in Bulgaria dont need to register to the social security authorities. The employer do that for them.
Bulgarian citizens dont have social security number yet.
Foreign individuals working in Bulgaria need to hand in application to National Revenue Agency to obtain special ID number for foreigners. The employer can do that also.
