LOWER LEA VALLEY_Working With Edges
Lower Lea Valley currently acts as the city’s backyard.
Easily accessible by major transportation means and
strategically located next to major development sites
of the 2012 olympic, the site does nothing more than
serve the surrounding’s as warehouses and junkyard.
This is mostly affected by the major infrastructures
- the motorway, the train railway and the canal - that
fragmented the area into quarters where each works
in a different uique way and doesnt add up to the area’s
funcionality as a whole.
The strategy involve dual play on the edge, using it both as
spatial structure for containment and limited permeability.
in principal, the containment is needed to support the
activity within, limited permeability will support the creation
of network between quarters and between quarters and the
surrounding while at the same time making each quarters
accessible without losing its sense containment. This also
means not working with a single centre.
modern water treatment quarter also acts as tourist attraction
funcionality as a whole.

Multi-scalarity : This site will ultimately be developed into indvidual
quarters that each uphold distinct character yet at the same
time work together on a larger scale by creating a circulwar
co-dependent network. The instrument to create an opening on
the edge and overcome the existing infrastructures, will be done
through a subtle way like pathway or a more drastic measure
such as a building-bridge.

RECIPROCITY_Interweaving urban agriculture
An entry for International competition held by International
Architecture Biennale Rotterdam 2009 in colaboration
with Indonesia Institue of Architecture. The theme
was Gotong Royong City (Reciprocity) - an Indonesian
phylosophy which suggests initiative and participation of
different social fragments to collaborate. (http://ddm.
caad.ed.ac.uk/gotongroyongcity/html/index.html)
This design proposal was derived from a vision of
introducing an urban configuration focusing in agriculture
as the aspect that is capable to create a cycle of
contribution from different class of community.

EUSTON STATION_multi layer open box
As one of central’s london major station, Euston station takes a
huge space among the city’s fabric, accommodating numerous
railways that caused disruption to the circulation flow. Located
at the Euston road, this station contribute to the already over-
crowded road especially during peak hours.. Thus the mission
is to improve the station’s design to create a better circulation
flow for both, automotive vehicles and pedestrians. By elevating
the station’s roof, it creates a second layer ground for
pedestrians and eliminates the big box image that the station
gives. The new design also contributes to reduce the traffic by
creating a huge roundabout in front of the station to disperse
the traffic and atutomotive concentration.
The massive tsunami in 2004 had hit Aceh and caused
severe damages with more than100.000 lives lost and
thousands other lost their homes. Soon after, international
agencies and non governmental organization from all
around the world came to rebuild the world’s most
affected area. This also brought an opportunity for the local
government to rethink about the whole spatial structure,
especially those in the capital city, Banda Aceh.

downtown, and the green reservation area. The downtown is
the heart of the city where all the urban activities take place,
and mostly consists of historical building from the colonial
era. This part of the river is often overlooked as the activities
take place inside the building. The strategy is to reorientate
the people activities to truly embrace the existing river by
creating an opening from the pocket of activities to the river,
while at the same time revamp the underused area along the
river. In doing so, the development will be focused on three
parts along the river, that is hopefully will generate activity to
utilize the river itself.

Adjacent to major junction, the central market and
bus terminal, this quarter was proposed as a green
area that will act as a counterpart for those loud
activities. The two options are to create a small park
with children playground or sport facilities. Each
comes with designated space for street hawkers.
The plan is to utilize the already famous REX square food night bazaar to the riverfront and generate it as the centre of waterfront
development. Planting of green trees will ensure that the activities in the square will continuosly happen also during the day. A direct
access to the riverfront is created by converting one of the oldest hotel’s part into an open air restaurant that acts as the extension of
the bazaar. The newly proposed bridge is crucial to emphasize REX as the center of waterfront activity.
Alur Design Group designs the first Indonesian Pavilion,
representing Indonesian embassy’s for the International
Architecture Showcase for LFA. This pavilion called the
Landscape of Diversity, is derived from the country’s
origins and the rich traditional culture : Batik, which had
just been recognized by UNESCO in October 2009 as a
Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Batik is wax writing, a way of decorating cloth by covering a
part of it with a coat of wax and then dyeing the cloth and
has existed in parts in Indonesia since hundreds years ago.

The pattern of our installation is taken from Batik Kawung,
which is a basic pattern of intersecting circles depicting
the fruit of the sugar palm tree. This kawung pattern
adapts the traditional geometric batik pattern into a more
contemporary design through computer 3D modeling.
By visualising one of the traditional batik patterns as an
architectural prototype, the imaginative landscape shows a
geometric systemas a wooden landscape structure it seeks
to provide new meaning to the Indonesian culture.

HANOI CORRIDOR
Academic I 2009
As a part of AA’s study trip to Vietnam, the task was to rethink
the possibility of an industrial park in the area. The idea was
to move away from seeing the city as a central with satellites
around it, but as a continuous corridor that allows new
development to be anchored and supported by the whole city.
The Industrial park compound based itself on a campus logic
which allows multiple typology to exist and interdependence.
SMALL OFFICE HOME OF-FICEAPARTMENT
Academic I 2005
This undergraduate final project achieved a very satisfying score
and was chosen to be presented at the annual Open House as
a representative of the final project. The idea was to create an
iconic silhouette of a residential building that fits for young urban
executives. Thus, the idea of working from home is brought up
to the project.
TSUNAMI MUSEUM
Competition I 2009
Tsunami museum competition was held to commomerate
the massive 2004 tsunami tragedy that struck Indonesia.
The initial concept was to create an escape hill that will
act functionally as an escape hill with green roof, and also
contextually as a reminder of the tsunami itself, along with
the struggling and reconstruction efforts that followed.
TSUNAMI VILLAGE PLANNING
Professional I 2007
as a part of the GTZ team, more than 40 village planning
were produced to help the reconstruction of the new village
after they were struck by the tsunami. the process were
participative with input from experts.
