WATCHWORD And being found in human form, Jesus humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:7,8)
Godsaid,“FeedMySheep”.
We can surely observe that all the American people have plenty of food readily available. That is our thoughts due to our own cirumtances. That is really not a statement for all people, even in our town to agree with. Today I put on my protective gloves and went by the church office to pick up what food had been collected this past week. Drove to Sunnyside Minisry on Haled Street in the Waughtown aea. When I rounded the corner and approached Sunnyside, I was more than pleased to see so many cars in their parking lot. Momentarily, I was so pleased that the Moravians had really opened their hearts to others. Soon I realized these were people picking up food, not donors. I left the three bags of food and a check. As I drove away my thoughts turned to all of the “things” that so many of us enjoy. I don’t need to name them as we can walk through our house and garage and see what we have stored up. I wonderd about the people in the neighborhood that I left behind. But for the grace of God, that might be one of us. Christ Church is such a benevolent family of people, and our Lenten project got disabled due to the COVID-19. Coud we make a real effort to drop off food at our church office, or Sunnyside. If that is not possible, a smal check would go a long way.
CHURCH SERVICES & HOLY WEEK READINGS
Rev. Spaugh has recorded our church service for Sunday, April 5, and it is available on our church website (www.christmoravianchurch.org) and also on our Facebook page to listen to. He has also recorded the Holy Week readings into two days of readings and they are also available to listen to on the church website and Facebook. Richard will continue with recording the sermons each week until restrictions are lifted and we can all get back to church.

We are in the midst of unprecedented challenges in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. After prayer and discernment the Salem Congregation Central Elders have decided to conduct the 248th Easter Sunrise Service by live-stream only. The service will be live-streamed in its entirety from the Home Church sanctuary mixed with live shots of God’s Acre. We will still declare that “The Lord Is Risen!” We are asking you to join us in that proclamation by going to www.moraviansunrise.org at 6 a.m. on Sunday April 12th or tuning in to WSJS for a live radio broadcast. A PDF of the Order of Service will also be available on www.moraviansunrise.org, www.salemcongregation.org, and the Salem Congregation Facebook page.

(The CE Committee is currently working on securing alternate dates with the band later in the year in case restrictions are extended into May. We will keep you updated.)
COMMUNITY DAY The CE Committee is organizing a Community Day on Saturday, May 2 from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm. This will be a great time for our neighbors to get to know us and vice versa, as well as others. There will be a Pop-up Yard Sale, a bake sale, food, games and activities for everyone and live music performed by the 60’s band, Penny Candy (Jann Holderman is the drummer for the group) and tours of the church. More details will be shared periodically via email, the bulletin and newsletter. There will also be flyers available if you want some for friends and family or to post at work. This event is sponsored by Christ Moravian Church, so we need your help. We will need volunteers for the various activities and areas. If interested, please see Diane Holleman or Sabrina Maksi. If you would like to rent a space for $10 in the parking lot for the Pop-up Yard Sale, please see Carol Johnson.
NEWS FROM THE LEADERSHIP BOARD – The Leadership Board was not able to meet on March 14 to discuss the congregational survey. As soon as restrictions are lifted, we will reschedule our Leadership Board meeting. Buildings & Grounds Update: We were able to get a roofing contractor to come and repair the leaks to the ceiling in the Sanctuary. They replaced some shingles on the roof (we had kept some of the shingles left over from when the church was last roofed and used them). They gave us a three-year guarantee on their work.
