Strategic levers
Fosteringafocusoninnovationandtechnologyhelpsprepareandrespondtotheevolvingnatureanddesignofworkandtheassociatedworkhealthandsafetychallenges.Theresearchandincentivesavailablethroughinnovationandtechnologyassiststo:

Asindustriesandworkplacesreviewandadapttheirworkpracticestorespondtothechangingwaysofworkandworkpressures,theymustalsoconsidertheimpactofchangeonhealthandsafetypracticesandthephysicalandpsychologicalworkenvironment.Theapplicationofhigher-orderriskmanagementcontrolsinthedesignofthephysicalworkplace,workprocessesandworkforcecanoptimiseworkerfunctionandactivelymakeadifferencetoreducethepotentialforworkplaceinjuryandillness.
Designinghealthyandsafeworkshouldbeaconsiderationatallstagesoftheworklifecyclefromthedesignandlayoutofthephysicalworkenvironment,establishmentandreviewofworkprocesses,andrecruitmentandcapabilitydevelopmentoftheworkforce.Decision-makingfortheflowofworkshouldreflecthealthandsafetyconsiderationsacrossthesupplychaininprocurement,manufactureordesign,dispatchanddelivery,andfortheenduser.
