HYUNDAI HOPE ON WHEELS Hyundai Hope on Wheels® is the united

effort of Hyundai Motor America and its more than 800 dealers across the U.S. that is all about helping kids fight pediatric cancer. In fact, for every new Hyundai vehicle sold in the U.S., Hyundai dealers donate a portion of the vehicle sale price to Hope on Wheels.

Since joining the fight against pediatric cancer in 1998, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has grown into a national, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides research funds to children’s hospitals nationwide. By the end of 2012, the program will have donated more than $57 million, since its inception, to support pediatric cancer research.

Hope on Wheels provides research grants through its Scholar Grant and September Hope Grant programs. Grant recipients are known as Hyundai Scholars and pursue innovative research projects that bring us closer to discovering better methods of treatment, and ultimately a cure for pediatric cancer. At every hospital where

Hope on Wheels makes a grant donation, it hosts its signature handprint ceremony, where children fighting cancer add their own handprints, in paint, to the official Hope on Wheels Hyundai vehicle, a 2012 Tucson, to commemorate their strength and share their hope.

CJ George, a 13-year-old Florida native and cancer survivor, is the current Hope on Wheels National Youth Ambassador. CJ travels the country with Hope on Wheels to share his message of hope and to raise awareness for this important cause. Hyundai Hope on Wheels celebrates CJ’s efforts, as well as all the other children, families and doctors battling cancer each and every day.

The mission of Hyundai Hope on Wheels is clear; we help kids fight cancer, and we won’t stop until there is a cure.

NEW THINKING. NEW POSSIBILITIES.

HIGHLIGHTS OF HYUNDAI’S HISTORYHyundai Motor Company, founded in

1967, started off with the dream of creating cars that could compete with those of global automakers. This ambitious dream lead to the development and export of the subcompact Excel model to the United Stated in 1986 through Hyundai Motor America.

Since then, we have grown into a global company that produces and sell automobiles in over 190 countries worldwide. Hyundai now has a full lineup of propriety engines, and has a complete model lineup that ranges from economical compact cars to high-end luxury vehicles.

The foremost objective of Hyundai in the early years after its foundation was to attain technological independence. Even at a time when infrastructure for technological advancements was virtually nonexistent and leading automakers were keen on curbing the emergence of new companies, we persistently pursued technological developments. In the end, we succeeded creating our own proprietary engine – the Alpha – in 1991.

Since then, we have developed high-performance engines including the Tau V-8, which made Ward’s 10 best engines list for three consecutive years, and the Theta I-4, whose technology we passed onto numerous global OEMs. Starting in 1988, we strongly implemented company-wide quality management policies, and as a result Hyundai ranked the highest in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study in 2009.

Furthermore, new Hyundai models Genesis, Tucson, and Sonata have received the highest honor in safety tests in both the United States and Europe – proving to the world that Hyundai’s quality is receiving worldwide recognition.

Our confidence in quality has encouraged us to enter automobile markets around the world. Hyundai was fast to introduce region specific cars tailored to the needs of local customers. The introduction of the 2012 Veloster in the United States is one example of this fast response, earning it the 2012 Urban Car of the Year Award. In 2012, Hyundai had six of its models listed on the IIHS safety report and will continue to expand its state-of-the-art, Blue Link communications system, which provides revolutionary enhancements to vehicle safety, security and convenience.

Hyundai is one of the fastest growing automotive companies in the world. We recorded global sales of 4.05 million cars in 2011 – a sales figure that doubled in a mere 10 years. This incredible growth can be attributed to innovative vehicle design and products that satisfy customer tastes.

We have also created ground breaking marketing programs that truly understand the needs of consumers. Hyundai’s customer orientated marketing such as our competitive warranty program has been behind our success even during the global economic crisis. Since entering the Global 100 Brand list in 2005, our brand power and brand value has been growing consistently.

In the United States, Hyundai has seen fast growth and success as well and has invested heavily in its American operations:

1986: Formation of Hyundai Motor America (HMA)

1986: Hyundai Automotive Technology Center, Inc. (HATCI) is established

1988: HMA opens a $21 million, 300,000 sq ft parts distribution center (PDC) in Ontario, CA

1989: HMA opens a $16.6 million, 342,000 sq ft office complex and PDC in Aurora, IL

1990: HMA opens a $12.2 million vehicle processing port facility in Portland, OR

1990: Hyundai Motor Finance Company (HMFC) is launched with a capital investment of $15 million and 22 employees

2002: Hyundai breaks ground in Montgomery, AL for its first U.S. automobile assembly plant, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA); a $1.6 billion investment.

2003: Hyundai opens a new $25 million Hyundai Design and Research Center in Irvine, CA

2004: Hyundai completes construction of the $11 million Hyundai Proving Grounds in California City, CA.

2005: HMMA begins production of the Sonata and Santa Fe with a capacity of over 300,000 units

2005: HATCI is moved to a new 200,000 sq ft, $117 million facility in Superior Township, MI

2006: HMA spins off its information technology division to form Hyundai Information Systems North America (HISNA)

2009: HMA’s parts division is spun off to form Mobis Parts America, responsible for the development and distribution of parts and accessories for Hyundai in the U.S.

2009: HMFC, with an accumulated portfolio of over $4 billion changes its corporate name to Hyundai Capital America (HCA) and continues to serve Hyundai dealers nationwide with individual customer financing and dealer inventory financing

2010: HCA moves to a new facility in Irvine, CA

2011: HMA breaks ground on the construction of an all new 500,000 sq ft $150 million North American headquarters office in Fountain Valley, CA

Today, all new Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by Hyundai Assurance which includes America’s Best Warranty™, 24/7 Roadside Assistance, and the highly acclaimed Buyer Protection Program. Hyundai cars and sport utility vehicles are distributed throughout the United States by Hyundai Motor America and are sold and serviced by more than 820 Hyundai dealerships nationwide.

Hyundai is now heading toward a new kind of future. Through new thinking that opens up new possibilities, we are transforming Hyundai from a value company to a valuable company.
