APPROVED TREES FOR BACKYARD

Armstrong Maple Height: 45'. Spread: 15'. Shape: Narrow,

Foliage: Light green. Fall Color: Yellow to

orange-red. Armstrong is a fast growing

columnar selection. It produces a very tall,

narrow tree with ascending branches. It is

widely used for street planting where space

demands a tree which will not spread.

State Street Maple Mid-sized gem that gets only around 40-

45' tall and about 25' wide, forming a nice

broad, pyramid shape. The nice green

foliage holds up beautifully and in fall,

turns a nice golden yellow..

Autumn Blaze Maple Fast growing; reaches 50 to 60 ft.

tall, 40 ft. wide.

Shade Master Honeylocust

Height 50-75’ Spread 25-40’ Fall color

yellow.The leaves are small and the branch-

es are widely spaced. The tree casts a nice

shade but not such a deep shade that the

grass or other plantings beneath it can’t grow

well. when autumn hits and the leaves fall,

you’ll see that they are so small they don’t

need to be raked! They aren’t big enough to

hurt the grass below them.

Heritage River Birch Quickly reaches 40 to 60 ft. tall

and wide; 70 ft. tall in ideal condi-

tions. Attractive Textured Bark

Whitespire Birch Displays chalk-white bark.. Yellow

fall color. Only one trunk on the

New Horizon Elm Vigorous dutch elm resistant elm tree that

has foliage which is larger and deeper

green than our other elms. It is a good,

clean-growing, somewhat upright plant

with grayish bark. It's an excellent shade

tree for a lawn or terrace and it will toler-

ate a wide range of conditions. It's very

fast growing and the mature size is

Ginkgo The leaves on the Gingko are an

interesting fan shape that flutters in

the slightest breeze. They are a beau-

tiful dark green from spring to sum-

Swamp White Oak The Swamp White Oak is a rugged oak

tree that grows to 50-60’ tall and spreads

40-50’. Foliage yellow-brown color and fin-

ishes with a display of red. Rounded open

habit.
