Hello Lovely! You told us…and we listened. When asked what you, the bride, would like to see more of in future issues of the magazine, you told us you wanted more Real Weddings, to keep the wedding planning tips coming and that you’re lovin’ the Local Love Stories. Well, we have that and a whole lot more in this issue.

If you are a fan of all things vintage then we have a treat for you! Our front cover styled shoot at Magnolia Lake was inspired by the Great Gatsby trend with 1920s embellished fashion, vintage car, black and gold glamour and all that jazz. This trend is said to be the most popular theme for 2014, surpassing rustic weddings. We hope you find the simple elements and chic décor inspiring and we hope you’ll take a look at the Style Guide to see what amazing vendors helped put it all together. As always, we’re social…so connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. Now, grab your magazine and head to the beach to enjoy this sweet summertime!

Woodlands Bride / Summer 2014 5

We love the tradition of the first dance. Whether it is elegant or fun, it is typically the first point of the night where the bride and groom become relaxed and have a moment together while family and friends surround them with support. The same kind of family and friend support that will be needed throughout their long and strong marriage. And of course, it is romantic!

My favorite wedding tradition is waiting until the bride is walking down the aisle to see her future husband for the first time. There was something so special that day with the anticipation of seeing Andy as I stood at the end of the aisle with my dad. I dreamed of that moment once I found my dress and it was so perfect! Andy cried and I did this little shoulder shake that I do when I get excited and it was truly one of the moments that stands out in my mind from our day. I think the sanctity and precious nature of that moment is worth keeping true on your wedding day.

Our favorite wedding tradition is an outdoor First Look before the ceremony. It’s a new tradition, but it serves two great purposes. From a photo and video standpoint, it’s the best time to capture that important moment in a calm, controlled and well-lit environment, and for the bride and groom, it’s often more intimate than a First Look down the aisle with all guests’ eyes on you. We’ve found that even after a First Look, our brides and grooms still get emotional seeing each other as they walk down the aisle during the ceremony. It doesn’t “take away” from that experience like some people might assume.

With all the wedding traditions to pick a favorite of, I would have to choose having your best man and maid of honor delivering a special sentimental gift to your soon to be spouse just before the ceremony. This is a time that you can celebrate your love and add to the excitement of becoming husband and wife. It could be a poem, love letter, jewelry, special songs recorded just for them or a video diary of your dreams and wishes for your journey as a married couple. Whatever you choose, make sure to celebrate with each other your love story.

Stargazing deep in the heart of

Texas

A devoted sense of love & loyalty weaves itself through just about everything in the Lone Star State. Texans treasure their sense of history & tradition and that's apparent in the way we go about all of the most important

things in life & love. We slow down to appreciate simplicities like the expanse of the southern sky filled with big, bright stars, a frosty drink on a humid night & sharing it with the one we love. Out in Montgomery, the rushed pace & traffic of the the big city give way to a slower pace of porches & pastures ripe with berries. At Hodge

Podge Lodge, dating back to the Civil War, paramours have long been dropping to one knee to pop that age old question beneath their canopy of pecan trees. And we at Lacey Peyton Photography adore capturing these once in

a lifetime moments that remind us all of what it is to be in love, & also, what it means to be Texan.

Undoubtedly, the cost of a wedding can quickly skyrocket if you do not keep a close eye on your budget. Kathy Bernish of Bundle Bride specializes in helping brides put together their dream wedding with a price tag they can smile about. She shares with us the three wedding costs that can quickly blow your budget.

FloralsMany times, a bride will choose a design they may have seen on Pinterest but once they reach the florist, they find that the flowers pack a punch of up to $100.00 a stem. Remember that the bouquets will be used for only a short time. There are so many wonderful florists that can do amazing pieces and are able to accommodate your budget. Renting centerpieces as opposed to

buying them also can save you 50 to 70 percent.Remember, Pinterest is wonderful for sharing ideas and finding creative options for your centerpieces and accents, but the ideas may not always be within your budget.Your planner can show you how to pull it all together once you have the vision.

CateringTo save some money on the caterer, why not try a local chef well-known for their home-style cooking? Maybe look at a locally owned café near you. Be careful when reading contracts. There is sometimes a high gratuity charge noted on the bottom that can easily blow your previous catering budget.

FavorsWe all want to give our guests a token of appreciation for sharing in our wedding day so we overdo it by buying favors for everyone. The problem is that oftentimes half of them are left at the reception. Guys are the worst offenders and will not leave with one in hand unless it is a koozie. Try a candy table instead, as a gesture of thanks. Those brides on a very tight budget may also consider a popcorn and peanut bar their guests can enjoy, as opposed to appetizers.

Most brides are on a set budget. A wedding planner will carefully draft a budget plan for them and will recommend vendors and ideas that together will balance their bottom line, without compromising the quality they desire.

3 Common Budget Blunders (and how you can avoid them)with Kathy Bernish of Bundle Bride + Aubrey Rose Weddings

Truc Pham of The Primp Bar shares her secrets for making sure your wedding

look outshines the sun.

EXFOLIATEMake this a habit or get a facial a week before your wedding day. Then, your skin is smooth for the makeup application.

TAN RESPONSIBLYSpray tans need to be

applied three to five days before your wedding to

avoid streaking and stains on your wedding dress.

HAIR CAREDon’t wash your hair

within 24 hours of your wedding day. Dirty hair allows for easier styling.

PREVENT STRESSKeep the weeks leading up to your wedding as stress-free as possible to prevent the dreaded acne breakout.
