LUMINARIES

The Saint Paul’s tradition continues with the Christmas Luminaries that the Christian Brothers

originally brought to our school. Students, teachers and parents put many hours into the preparation of this magnificent event. Viewers anxiously await the new message each year that appears in Hunter Stadium. At this time of year, the message of “Paix” or Peace was extremely

fitting as well as the 13-0 message to reflect the unbelievable undefeated season our New Orleans Saints are having. We honor the traditions of our Christian Brothers with this event and we wish

you a safe and joyful holiday season.

WHO DAT 13-0 Student Council members help with

luminaries in Hunter Stadium

The Babcocks made a family affair of the Luminaries. Liam, a Saint Paul’s graduate of 2008, and his mother Maureen help to light candles. They are the brother and mom of our current Student Council President

Colin Babcock.

FOOD DRIVE

Each year around the Thanksgiving season, students at Saint Paul’s all pitch in for a local tradition, our food drive. We are known to be a huge contributor to our local food bank, and this year was no exception. As a school we donated over fifteen truckloads of cans, and we collected everything from peas and green beans to rice and canned cranberry sauce. This drive really centers on the key principles of why Saint Paul’s exists. A Lasallian school is called to do more than to teach; they are to develop and impact the students and community. This food drive is a concrete example on how the Wolves are fulfilling the Lasallian Principal concern for the poor and social justice. Everyone at Saint Paul’s gets involved in the drive in one way or another. Most of the teachers even offer a few incentive points to attract even more involvement in the effort. Pictured above are Saint Paul’s students working hard to organize the seem-ingly never-ending sea of cans.

Matt Hardey, President of the Alumni Association, suggested to the alumni board that the Alumni Association’s Mission Statement has the LaSallian spirit and tradition as its core principal. As such, it was important for all alums to learn the five LaSallian core principals that make up this spirit and tradition. She is a member of the Renaissance Board at Saint Paul’s School because the Christian Brothers and the education that they have provided to her father, brothers and sons is everything a parent wants. Being the best in the business world one would want to be successful, but also be well rounded with the background that a Lasallian education provides to our sons. I beam with pride when I see my sons able to hold a conversation with an adult and to be the first to extend their hands. My oldest son wrote me from Parris Island that he was surviving due to the Brothers because they had taught him manners and how to say: “ Yes, sir.” It was second nature to have his shirt tucked in and to be on time. Being on the Renaissance Board is a way for me to give back to this wonderful school.

The Athletic Department website is up and running and filled with up to date information on all sports offered at Saint Paul’s School. Thanks to Joey Michel for creating such a wonderful venue for all to see. Please visit the website at www.stpaulswolves.com. It is amazing!
