Flu Season is in Full Swing!

The good news is that influenza strains that have been characterized in Massachusetts this season to date are covered by the current influenza vaccine. Getting a flu vaccine is your best protection, and it’s not too late. If you feel the symptoms of the flu coming on, please do yourself, colleagues, students, and fellow parishioners a favor and stay home.

Winter’s darkness still enfolds us and so the theme of light and darkness in today’s readings is very apropos for us to ponder. In the first reading, Isaiah gives us an antidote, reminding us that performing works of mercy can bring light into the darkness. In the Gospel, “Jesus said to his disciples… You are the light of the world…. your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father." Are your words and actions pointing people to Jesus? If they are not, what will you do to be a light in the darkness this week?

Adult Faith Formation - Conversion

February 20 March 19 February 27 March 26 March 5 April 2 For more information or to sign up, please contact the Collaborative Business Office at 781-933-4130 or Deacon Ed at [email protected].

Painting the Interior of St. Anthony Parish Church

Painting the interior of St. Anthony Parish Church is now complete! We are grateful for your patience and flexibility while this project was underway. We thank SGA Architects for their expertise in developing the color scheme — many parishioners have commented on the beauty of the transformation. We also thank Painters Pride for their skill and diligence in completing the job on time. Weekday Masses will resume the regular schedule at St. Anthony on Tuesday, February 11 at 9:00am.

Mass and Extreme Winter Weather

During winter months, we plan to maintain the weekly and daily Mass schedules within reason of safety for clergy and worshippers. A priest will make every reasonable effort to celebrate a scheduled weekday or weekend Mass. In the event pedestrian or vehicle travel is not recommended or the Governor declares a state of emergency for winter weather that includes a travel ban, the priest will not travel to celebrate the Mass. Notice will be made on Channels 5 & 7 and The Woburn Patch. Worshippers should not come to Mass. You do not incur a moral burden or sin for missing Mass during dangerously inclement weather. Our Lord wants us to be safe and to use good sense! Options to watch televised Mass are readily available. Please use them.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Woburn strives to help those in need in the community and Parishes of Woburn. It provides those in need with short-term assistance and life-improvement possibilities. For the past 30 years, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Woburn has assisted the poor, troubled, and less fortunate families and individuals within the city. Originally, the Society helped with residents struggling with rent and utility costs, but with contributions from people like you and our generous sponsors we have been able to add a pantry supplying food to those in need. St. Vincent de Paul Society of Woburn has volunteers fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, who help the Society when reaching out to non-English speaking residents in need.
