It will prove to be another year of great presentaons and events. This summer provided a 66.7% success rate for our planned summer oungs! Not too bad for a cooler weer season that we have not seen in a number of years but breathing clean cool air was a big plus! Our successful June golf tournament at the challenging Larchmont Golf Course came off without rain managed to hook two new golfers to the sport. You need to check out the pictures of the golfing event on our website, www.wmmoa.org to see Jim Hamiltons amazing pants! Julys overwhelmingly successful Range Day and barbeque was held at the Hellgate civilian shooters range at West Riverside! Melissa and Robert Burns put on an amazing display of Navy marksmanship with the first-place win over the close second and third place Army teams followed by the Navy/Marine team. Again, check out the pictures on our website. The August Osprey baseball game was rained out for the second year in a row and the field was put out of commission from damage from a prior rainy musical event. It was impossible to reschedule as the Osprey had to play most of the remaining games away before the field was playable. Maybe next year we will schedule an earlier game. September will start our season with two excing programs. The Social Hour on 13 September, 6:00 p.m., will be at Westside Bowling Lanes with Robert Burns, CDR (CHC)/USN/Ret doing the There I was…” (Presidents comments connued)

Other events for September in the Missoula area are the “Never Forget Service” at Rose Park in Missoula, 11 September, 7 PM where our own Larry Anderson will be speaking. If you can, please show up earlier at 6 PM to help with putting out the 7000 mini American flags prior to the main event. Then on September 24th, the Northern Rockies Heritage Center will present “Meriwether Lewis and the New Frontier” at 7 PM, Heritage Hall

(there will be refreshments) at Fort Missoula. Also, U of M History Professor John A. Eglin is organizing the Arnold Swanberg Lecture in Military History at the Dennison Theater at UM on Wednesday October 2 at 7 PM. Will Hitchcock, the Corcoran Professor of History at the University of Virginia, will deliver the presentation entitled “Eisenhower in Command”. There will be a reception beforehand (with ample food and drink!). Many of you were able to attended Professor Robert Citino’s lecture last year and this one sounds very interesting as well.
