In 2009• 2,256 new patients enrolled at CommunityHealth – a 33% increase over 2008 • CommunityHealth was the medical home for more than 8,000 uninsured patients • Patients were served through 22,037 medical visits including primary care and 20+ specialty care services • 58,868 prescription medications valued at $8.9 million were dispensed at no cost to patients through the on-site MedAccess Chicago pharmacy A state-of-the-art dental suite was completed and the on-site Oral Health Program launched December 2 2010 Dental Goals • Provide 1,500 dental visits • Increase appointment availability to at least 30 hours a week • Integrate health education offerings with dental program • Recruit 20 volunteer dentists • Recruit 20 volunteer hygienists • Recruit 15 volunteer dental assistants New Partnership Initiatives… A new Asthma Clinic opened March 8. Internists from Northwestern Memorial Hospital who have completed a fellowship in allergy immunology will be running this monthly clinic. To further enhance the services available to patients struggling with asthma and other pulmonology conditions, CommunityHealth welcomes the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago as our newest partner. RHAMC is providing an on-site health educator to work directly with this patient population. Without Good Oral Health, You Can’t Have Good General Health Dr. Arnie Widen, Board President, Judith Haasis, Executive Director, Joseph O’Malley, Vice President at the grand opening of the Oral Health Program on February 16, 2010. Thanks to a $200,000 legacy gift from the Louis R. Lurie Foundation and CRASH USA, an Oral Health Program is now up and running at CommunityHealth. Member companies of CRASH USA: Admiral Heating, Anning-Johnson, Clune Construction, Continental Electric, Flooring Resources, Great Lakes Plumbing and Heating and Whitney Design donated their services valued at more than $110,000 to build out two dental operatories, a lab and x-ray room. “Building the dental suite at CommunityHealth was the largest pro bono project for a non-profit organization ever undertaken by CRASH USA,” said its president Pat Sullivan, who is also president of Superior Mechanical Systems. Oral Health Program Brings Smiles to the Uninsured CRASH members were unanimous in wanting to take on the job because they believe so strongly in the health center and its mission. They have made an invaluable contribution that will benefit patients for years to come. Thanks to the recruitment of volunteer dentists, hygienists, and assistants, we were able to launch the program on December 2, 2009. Okemawaspleasedwiththecareshereceived.“When itwas time topullmy tooth, Ikeptfeeling pain; the doctor was so patient andprovided the medication I needed to feelcomfortable.”Okema said she is happy thatshecangetgoodoralhealthcareandnotjustanemergencyfix.“Itwasagreatexperience.”

Because the dental clinic is not yet a fullservice operation, only exams, cleanings,fillings and extraction services are providedatthistime.Wearelookingtopartnerwithdentallabstoprovidecrowns,bridges,partialsanddentures.
