Local Offi cials’ Day with the Legislature
P at Bagley is an award-winning editorial cartoonist from Utah, a state he describes as “that little metal thingy on the buckle of the Bible Belt.” He is the daily car-
toonist for The Salt Lake Tribune and is syndicated in over 450 newspapers around the country.
Bagley grew up with politics. His father was mayor of a booming seaside community in southern California. He earned his degree from Brigham Young University in 1977 in history and political science.
Bagley’s fi rst published cartoon was picked up by Time in 1977. His work has since appeared in Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Guardian of London, The National Review, and Playboy. His work is also regularly featured on the popular cartoon site Cagle.com and in The Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year.
His latest book, Bagley’s Utah Survival Guide, is an interpretive joyride through the Beehive State.

This annual event provides a unique opportunity to meet with your legislators and let them know the
issues that are important to your community during the 2008 session. We’re fortunate this year that our event
coincides with the reopening of the newly-renovated Utah State Capitol. So think of it as a House (and Senate)
warming of sorts, but you don’t need to bring presents or gift cards.
The day begins at the Capitol with a continental breakfast and legislative briefing before committee hearings
commence. We’ll also have a special program beginning at 11:00 am at The Grand America Hotel for members of your
Youth City Councils (and local officials who wish to join them). They will be entertained and informed by Salt Lake Tribune
editorial cartoonist Pat Bagley.
At 12:15 pm, legislators, local officials, and youth city council members will meet together for lunch at the hotel.
Our esteemed guest promises an “informatational” presentation. And, most importantly, we hope it provides a few good laughs before the session gets too serious.

American parents will often tell their children that with hard work they can grow up to be President of the United States. But early in his life, Steve
Bridges decided it was more fun (not to mention easier) to mimic the president rather than be the president. For many years Bridges was content to entertain family and friends with his hilarious impressions of notable people. Today, many years later, Bridges has developed a repertoire of over 200 impressions, including his most famous of Bill Clinton, and most recently George W. Bush, that have established him as a premiere vocal impressionist.
Bridge’s uncanny “G.W.” impression has made him a regular on The Tonight Show, Inside Politics, The Early Show, Good Morning America, Hannity and Colmes, and The Jeff Foxworthy Roast. His impression of President George W. Bush is a hilarious, bipartisan comedy performance that stays above the political fray and elicits unparalleled raves from both parties.
