• There are many, many courses to choose from

• Application for high demand courses often close early

VET Courses

• VET courses are:– available to students in Year 11

and 12 – taught by teachers at school or

TAFE – provide a head start in a career – may provide work placement – provide pathways to further study

Enrolment – Course is Known

• Direct Enrolment (if no support necessary or disability is not disclosed)

• Determine if enrolment is by:– Application (sometimes a points

system is used here)– Information session– Attending enrolment

Enrolment – Course is Unknown

• Discuss with the Teacher Consultant:– Options– Vocational goals– Support Requirements– Links with employment

services

Fees and Exemptions

• Some courses are “Fee Free”

• Most have an Administration Fee

• Students under the T/C are entitled to one fee exemption per year.

• Apart from the TAFE NSW fee, you may also need to pay:– course-related charges – Student Association membership – An OTEN Student Materials and

Handling Charge– temporary visa holders tuition fees – fees for commercial courses – licence fees – Commercial Recognition fees – car parking (semester or annual fee). – Personal Protective Clothing– Materials charges
