Cover Photo: This award winning kitchen with it's luxury brand of sophisticated appliances provides for a state-of-the-art kitchen. Refrigerators anchor each end and integrate seamlessly with adjacent cabinetry housing other appliances. Reflective tall cabinets contrast with gray matte cabinets and are complemented by reflective deep walnut. An aquarium in the base of the island creates that splash of unique character. ‘Crystal Lagoon’ subway tile resembling underwater onyx, and ‘Wave' pendant lights complete the look. The extravagant design, touchable features and creative use of space will draw everyone into the kitchen. Photography by Dave Adams Photography, Courtesy of C. Hello and Welcome to the 9th Annual Kitchen and Bath Design and Remodeling Guide and Member Directory for the NKBA California Capital Chapter.

For many years, the NKBA Member Directory has been a valuable resource for our professional industry and homeowners, and this year is no different. In this issue, you will find professionals represented from every sector of the kitchen and bath industry, whether it be Interior Designers, Contractors, Suppliers, Vendors, Manufactures, Fabricators and Installers; all of whom are key players when it comes to remodeling your kitchen and bathroom spaces.

Our local Chapter is continuing to grow, and with the support from our leadership at the national level, we will continue to offer extraordinary design ideas, best practices, and knowledge and expertise

in designing kitchen and bathroom spaces. As we look back and try to fully capture all that we have done in 2019, our efforts were successful, and we are proud of our achievements. We offered educational and informative programming and speakers at our monthly meetings, partnered with other design organizations such as NARI for the Annual Golf Tournament and Chopped Challenge event, offered a web-based platform for our Annual Design Competition, and most honorably, our ongoing community outreach efforts as we are continuing to assist one of our members in rebuilding their home lost during the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA.

We look forward to all that year 2020 has in store for our local Chapter and at the national level. Many of our industry’s powerhouse brands are at the forefront of new product development, and emerging technologies, and so we are excited to see, specify and incorporate these products in your projects. We also look forward to more educational opportunities which will allow us all to advance our knowledge and expertise in the area of kitchen and bath design.

Fulfilling my duties and responsibilities as President of the NKBA California Capital Chapter will require great partnerships, open communication and support, and with that, it is my great pleasure to serve the Council and Chapter Membership as President for the upcoming term. Thank You and I look forward to working with you all.

establish a trusting relationship with their clients. That is why the NKBA places so much emphasis on superior professional conduct and ethical standards.

NKBA members pride themselves on their ability to listen to your wants and needs, taking them and turning them into your ideal kitchen or bath. And if something you thought you wanted isn’t going to work, they are able to offer you better alternatives that you might not even know existed or felt you could afford. You know all your options, as well as how much they should cost and how much time and effort it should take to bring them to fruition.

Ultimately, NKBA members have pride in their work. It shows in both their workmanship and their respect for the clients who trust them enough to allow them into their homes.

Your kitchen or bathroom is exactly what you envisioned, or better, after using the best, most cost effective, and energy efficient materials and techniques.Much of the most innovative building materials and design and construction methods were born out of consumer demand for smartness, efficiency and sustainability. One of the NKBA’s future goals is to be a leader in sustainable, or green, design. As such, they are greatly expanding their educational programs in that area. This means that NKBA members are always aware of all the innovative green processes and products continuously coming out on the market.

So, again, what do you get when you select an NKBA member?

Abundant knowledge, experience and professional standards. Working with an NKBA professional means that the process of getting your new kitchen or bath is just as pleasant and rewarding as the final product (well, almost).

For more information on the benefits of choosing an NKBA certified professional, visit www.nkba.org or www.sacnkba.org.

If you’ve started looking to hire someone to help you realize your dream bath or kitchen, you have no doubt noticed the incredible number of designers and contractors out there. In a way, the broad selection is impressive. On the other hand, it’s a bit intimidating. In fact, it could be so overwhelming that you don’t even know where to begin. You may wonder if you’ll actually ever be able to determine the perfect person for your particular project.

Seeing a kitchen or bath designer’s professional affiliations is one of the best ways to start narrowing down your options. You can narrow them down even further when you see the NKBA logo, designating that professional as being NKBA certified.

So what does the NKBA designation really mean? What sets an NKBA certified professional apart from one who isn’t certified?

NKBA certification requires extensive (and continuing) education and experience in the kitchen and bath industry.Even the most basic NKBA certification requires no less than two years hands-on experience and 30 hours of formal education in the kitchen and bath design field. And those numbers build exponentially with each consecutive certification.

In order to maintain current certifications or gain more advanced ones, continuing education is a necessary requirement. Through this requirement, the NKBA helps its members keep up with the continual evolution of technology and materials on the market today, as well as changing building codes and regulations. NKBA course curriculum, articles and newsletters cover all the latest in kitchen/bath design, safety and regulations, space planning, sales, project management, drafting, manufacturing, cabinet design, installation, plumbing, hardware, electrical systems, etc.

All of this ongoing experience and education helps members keep their existing skills sharp and make them even sharper over time.

In addition to design and building skills, NKBA members must adhere to high standards of ethics and professionalism.A successful kitchen or bath project depends on more than just technical skills. It also depends on the contractor or designer’s ability to communicate and

Mission StatementNKBA

To enhance member success, promote professional excellence and provide leadership for the kitchen and bath industry.

The NKBA California Capital Chapter Directory was created to spread the word and increase awareness of the NKBA throughout the region.
