Chapter 1 Introduction The settings in this guide were specified by FedEx Office Asset Management for use in imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 devices that are in a Full-Service environment. Our customer has built their corporate enterprise on standardized operating procedures and standardized devices in their centers and across their network. This approach ensures they can create training materials, operating procedures, and performance benchmarks that work efficiently across all of their locations. It is essential that any imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 device installed in a FedEx Office center is configured to the specifications identified in this Guide. As a result the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 Configuration and Installation Guide is still a vital document long after the installation has been completed. The Guide is essential for maintaining the devices at the level of specification FedEx Office and Canon U.S.A. require. If you are asked to deviate from the procedure or settings in this document, inform the FedEx Office Center Manager to contact their Asset Management team in Dallas for approval. Before proceeding with installation, make sure that you have the following:
• Tools • USB to Serial Adapter including Serial DB9 Null Modem Cable • Laptop equipped with HyperTerminal© or Tera Term© software (both of
which are available for download on the Internet). • imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 Service Manual • FedEx Office center IP Address information • FedEx Office imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 Paper Catalog file • Virtual Kitting Tool package • imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 System Firmware Version 20.01 (FedEx
Office USB ONLY VERSION)** **in case the software version on the device you are installing is not at the FedEx
Office Approved Software level or if you are required to re-load the correct system firmware.
Use the following information to help prepare yourself and your laptop for the installation process. Use the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 Service Manual for any installation or troubleshooting procedures.

Chapter 2 Preparing the Device Being Removed Two steps are required before installing the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205. • Securing a Fiery Configuration Page from the device(s) being removed. Make note
of the IP address for the device being removed because the device being installed will use the same IP address.
• Erasing customer data from the Fiery and imageRUNNER ADVANCE Hard Disk Drives.
1. Securing a Fiery Configuration Page (IP Address Information)
FedEx Office has deployed IP addresses under a new network scheme. As a result it is not possible at the writing of this document to identify the IP address information needed to complete an installation correctly. The best process to use under these circumstances is print a Fiery Configuration Page to capture the IP addresses of the devices that are being replaced, and to provide this information to the installing Technician for use when installing the replacement device(s). If an IP address is not available, the Center Manager or FTS will be able to provide an IP address to use for the installation. Printing a Fiery Configuration Page a. From the engine control panel, press Main Menu button. If the Fiery icon does
not appear on the copier touch panel, press Show All. b. From the copier touch panel, select Fiery Button > Info > Print pages >
Configuration > Yes. Wait for the Configuration pages to print.
2. Performing a clear server on the imagePASS-U1
Before the device is removed from the Center, the imagePASS HDD needs to have all the jobs deleted. This is done at the engine UI with the following steps: a. Select [Show All] b. Select [Printer] c. Select [Run Setup] (This will take approximately 2 minutes then a login will
appear) d. Enter the password [Fiery.1] e. Scroll to page 2 then select [Clear Server]
3. Erasing customer data from the imageRUNNER ADVANCE Hard Disk Drive
Before a device is removed from the FedEx Office Center, the HDD must be initialized using the “Initialize All Data/Settings” function on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device. This is done in user mode with the following steps:
- Select [Settings/Registration] - Log into the device using the center password (center number) - Select [Management Settings] - Select [Data Management] - Select [Initialize All Data/Settings] - Select [OK] to initialize the HDD

Important The Certification of Canon Machine Hard Disk Drive Erase form, which is found on e-Support and at the back of this document, must be filled out by the Technician and signed by the Center Manager. Then the completed form must be emailed to the email address below, so that it is confirmed that Canon has complied with this FedEx Office data security requirement. It is the Technician’s responsibility to scan and email the completed form to: [email protected]
