For centuries, silver has been known around the world as a safe,

natural material with the ability to prevent infection. Hippocrates

wrote of silver’s usefulness in wound care, and at the start of the 20th

Century, doctors used silver sutures to reduce the risk of infection

following surgery. More recently, the use of diff erent forms of silver in

fabrics has shown excellent results in reducing odours and keeping

clothing ‘fresh’. It’s this exact quality which makes a yarn-treated

nano-scale silver fabric like SilverTech such an ideal addition to

To the touch, SilverTech handles very similarly to other high-

performance synthetic fabrics. Like all STENCIL® CoolDry fabrics, it

has a moisture wicking, highly breathable and extremely light, silky

fi nish. It’s when you wear SilverTech that its additional characteristics

become most apparent – while still drawing heat and moisture

away from the wearer, the fabric retains a ‘clean’ feeling, even after

extended wear. Normally ‘high-wear’ zones, such as under the arms

and around the collar, still feel fresh long after other fabrics would be

ready for the wash basket.

Why SilverTech isn’t like other silver-treated fabrics.

While there are a number of silver-treated fabrics on the market, the

combination of STENCIL®’s CoolDry with the nano-scale silver which

makes SilverTech one of a kind. Rather than applying a treatment

to fi nished fabric, nano-scale silver is applied to raw yarn before the

cloth is woven, allowing the desired characteristics to permeate

deep inside each thread. A key advantage to this technique is the

durability of the treatment. While many antibacterial treatments

diminish over time, SilverTech retains its anti-odour characteristics

for the life of the garment, even with regular washing. Because

SilverTech is yarn-treated, there’s no chemical ‘coat’ or ‘layer’ which

can wear away. And because there’s no chemical coating to the

fabric, SilverTech maintains its open weave, breathing like cotton and

ensuring comfort even in the warmest of weathers.

Made from 130g 100% polyester SilverTech fabric, STENCIL®’s

SilverTech polo is the fi rst in a range of garments using this new

fabric. Featuring subtle horizontal silver stripes, the SilverTech polo is
