Hachtel, Yvonne Hunt 1921-2009 Published Thursday, June 18, 2009 Graveside service for Yvonne Hunt Hachtel, 87, of Bowie, formerly of Decatur, was June 16 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur with David Hall officiating. Hachtel died Friday, June 12, 2009, in Bowie. Born Dec. 31, 1921, in Frederick, Okla., to Thurman and Jewell (Todd) Hunt, she graduated from Lang High School in Oklahoma in 1939 and was an all-state basketball player. She played semi-professional softball. In February 1950, she married Herman Hachtel in Bowie and worked as a bookkeeper for Bennett Oil Co. and Bowie Industries. She was the first woman elected to the Bowie City Council. She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Hugh Hunt; and sisters, Maurice McKinley and Marylin Coulson. She is survived by her sons, Gary Hachtel and Jimmy Hachtel, both of Bowie; sister, Judy Mullins and husband, Ben, of Montgomery; grandchildren, Lyndon Hachtel of Wichita Falls, Dylan Hachtel of Corpus Christi and Garrett Hachtel and Dustin Hachtel of Bowie; and nieces and nephews. He graduated in 1950 from Texas Tech University with a bachelor ofscience in geology. Poynor married Fern Huestis in 1948. He was a regional managerwith BJ Oilfield Services and later formed an oil and gas production partnership with hisbrother, Max, in Jacksboro. He also served on the school board for Jacksboro ISD andlater helped develop the structure and charter of Runaway Bay. He was deacon andtreasurer at Runaway Bay Community Church. He also played golf and ranched. He wasleader and director at the annual Recreation Workshop and was a member of the FirstPresbyterian Church in Bridgeport. He graduated from Texas Christian University's ranchmanagement program and was active in the Texas Agricultural Extension Program inDecatur. He earned a master's degree in agricultural education from Texas A&MUniversity. He worked a small ranching operation in Wise County. He was a reservepolice officer in Fort Worth through the REACT program and was elected DCAPT-W of theEighth Coastal Region, U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He is survived by his wife; son, KensPugsley and wife, Reneau, of North Richland Hills; daughters, Marsha Owen of PortAransas and Nancy Pugsley of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gay Durden and husband, Mike, of Lewisville.
