2020 State Shoot: The State Shoot will be held at the Homegrounds in the Town of Rome, Wisconsin, July 14‐19th. Marathon targets are available on Monday, July 13. This will be our eighth state shoot at the Homegrounds. Entries, purses, options may change for 2020. Watch for any changes in the State Program, there were a few this year. Make sure you have your average card ready at classifying, it will be needed for shooting the state shoot. Wednesday night kicks off with a free Pig Roast in conjunction with the Hall of Fame banquet all All‐State Team Recognition. The Hot Dog Feed and basket give away will be on Thursday. Friday will be the Fish Fry as well as the silent and live auctions. The evening will end with Rhino’s DJ Service. It will be a fun‐filled week!! Pre‐squadding: Pre‐squadding will be available on Presquad.com on May 1st.
Needed Volunteers: We are always looking for volunteers for all shoots. If you would like to help, contact a Director and they can advise you as to what needs to be done.
16th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet: The banquet will be held on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, at the Homegrounds. This will be held in conjunction with the Pig Roast. The Hall of Fame inductees, Rich “YZ” Weisensel and Sandra Jo Jack, will be honored at the banquet. If you are interested in helping with the banquet, please contact Fritz Thistle or Taylor Katzenberg.
Do you have a few days or weekends free? We are always looking for people to help at Homegrounds. If you are available, please contact Amy Jenkins ([email protected]) with the dates that you are available. We really appreciate any spare time that you can give to the grounds. Members and their families are always welcome to help. Some dates that we could use membership help include:
May 2/3 – WTA Registered Shoot
May 9/10 – WI Junior Olympic Qualifier May 16 – Kettle Moraine Shoot June 6/7 – HS Clay Target League State Championship June 25/26 – WI SCTP International Bunker Trap June 26‐28 – SCTP Championship July 13 – WTA Marathon Shoot July 14‐19 – Wisconsin State Shoot July 22 – Cheesemakers September 11 – Mid‐State Technical College September 19/20 – WTA Wisconsin Fall Classic Friends of the WTA (FoWTA): In 2019 the “Friends”, which is really all of us, raised a little over $62,000. Your WTA Board of Directors outlined immediate needs and growth needs and our partnership got a lot accomplished. We made tremendous strides in the build out of our clubhouse. Insulation, wainscoting, coolers, work stations, and many other building related items that are easy to overlook but are critical to smooth operating of the facility. In support of the grounds, we added a new zero turn mower, and signage. Also last year we took an important new step which supports our youth and our future. The WTA/FoWTA partnership is providing grants to youth teams to help them grow. This is a major movement within the WTA. We are committed to growing the support for youth shooting and we are looking at new ways to increase our funding. In 2020 and beyond, we are looking at securing and improving the overall health of our sport. This year we are looking to add a five‐stand course. In the next few years we are looking at adding a sporting clays course, additional trap fields, and a bunker or two. It is this type of shared vision or common goal that is exciting for our partnership. Donations: The WTA continues to accept donations for the Homegrounds: ‐ Trap Fields ‐ $15,000 (29 of 30 donated) ‐ Lighted Fields ‐ $5000 (3 of 6 donated) ‐ Shelters ‐ $2500 (15 of 15 donated) ‐ Bleachers ‐ $2400 (1 of 3 donated) ‐ Gun Racks ‐ $325 (30 of 40 donated) Clubs, groups or individuals can support the WTA. Any amount will be thankfully accepted. The WTA is a 501(c)(3), so donations are tax deductible.
