Bluetooth is the most robust, secure wireless protocol in the industry. It has been vetted over many years of consumer use in such products as smartphones, laptops and tablets. Bluetooth Mesh provides a unique opportunity to revolutionize the world of lighting by putting control of commercial applications into the hands of the end user. Gone are the days when expensive lighting control specialists are required to commission each fixture on your jobsite—the Bluetooth technology puts this piece into the hands of the layman, giving total access and control to the people who live and work in the lighting space. Among the many reasons why we at Deco Lighting chose this over any other protocol is that Bluetooth Mesh operates over 40 frequency channels, using a frequency-hopping scheme that is immune to any interference. It runs well in crowded environments (areas with many active wireless devices) and remains the most accessible wireless technology available today. In addition, Bluetooth Mesh is low energy, enabling the use of energy-harvesting technology to power wireless nodes, resulting in much lower standby power consumption. Advantages of Deco MeshDeco Mesh is a wireless, Bluetooth protocol that provides secure connectivity between your phone and all the lights in your job space. Deco’s patent allows us to place a Bluetooth chip in our California designed drivers, eliminating the cost of expensive dongles or routers, and allowing you to commission instantly with the push of a button. The mesh system means that each driver, each light fixture, talks to the next, ensuring that every fixture is grouped to your specification. Each light is commissioned in seconds from your phone and is ready for on/off, dimming, high-end trimming, and scene selection. A wireless, kinetic wall switch can be placed anywhere in the room to manage basic controls, and a sensor captures occupancy and daylight controls. A digital wall switch that acts as a gateway to the Cloud will be available soon to bring all building and energy management tools under one roof. The scalability is endless, as the Deco Mesh app allows for as many as 60,000 fixtures to be combined into a single group.

REDUNDANCYA primary characteristic of the Deco Mesh network is that it provides redundancy. A weakness of standard Bluetooth is that it is limited by range. Communication between Bluetooth assets can break down if the distance is too far. Deco Mesh can communicate between assets as long as one asset is within range of another asset, and a message can be passed from one object to another, allowing one object to communicate with another that can be a significant distance away by using intermediary fixtures to pass the message along. Instead of one-to-one communication or WiFi (which is hindered by high-power requirements) Deco Mesh relies on a network of interconnected devices to relay important data with maximum efficiency.

Bluetooth Mesh Driver• Deco’s Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Mesh Driver is an ultra

compact, constant current driver with intelligent dimming that can automatically detect 0-10V and TRIAC dimming, and function accordingly.

• Programmable from 600-1200 milliamps, with a 50 watts maximum, as well as built-in Bluetooth Mesh radio for wireless control. 

Bluetooth Occupancy and Daylight Sensor• EMDC Easyfit motion detection with illumination sensor is a self-

powered device that monitors the environment for person-movement using a passive infrared (PIR) sensor, measuring the light level via a dedicated illumination sensor. 

• EMDC operaAtes self-powered in most applications based on the available light in the environment (electric or natural light) and can therefore be flexibly mounted on the ceiling without the need for any wiring.

Bluetooth Dimming Switch• Self-powered wireless controls are simple to install. The Single uses

EnOcean energy harvesting technology to communicate wirelessly with other devices supporting the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Advertising standard. 

• The rocker pad is self-powered and never requires batteries because the simple act of pressing the rocker generates enough energy to send wireless Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Advertising telegrams to other devices.

Type C tubes are ideal for customers with older fluorescent ballasts who want to maximize efficiency, but don’t want to install Type B linear voltage retrofit lamps. Deco’s Bluetooth Mesh Drivers can be integrated with robust dimming and control functionality, helping to offset moderate labor and installation costs. Type C LED tubes offer high system efficacy, guaranteed system compatibility, and the greatest overall performance. Best of all, Type C LED tubes with Deco’s Bluetooth Mesh Drivers are eligible for unique rebate opportunities.

UL Type C LED tubes operate with Deco Mesh Drivers that power the lamp, rather than using an integrated driver or external fluorescent ballast as a power source. UL Type C involves electrical modification to the existing fixture, but the low-voltage outputs of the external LED driver are connected to the sockets instead of line voltage as with UL Type B.
