CASE STUDY THE PROBLEM Mosaik’s client, an LTE-only MNO, relied on another Operator to provide 2G/3G connectivity and voice service to their network. Before deploying VoLTE, the client needed to monitor Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) for better visibility into their partner’s network. Identifying precise locations of CSFB failure would allow our client to address configuration errors or the absence of their partner’s 2G/3G layer. THE RESULTS Our client installed the application on over 1,500 employee devices, achieving massive geographic coverage for the measure of network performance, and quality of experience on their LTE network and their partner’s 2G/3G network. The results allowed our client to identify areas of concern for RF engineers to address and gave them empirical data to hold their partner accountable to their mutual roaming agreement. Additionally, the hard data collected from the device level gave our client the evidence they needed to justify an aggressive timeline for VoLTE rollout. THE SOLUTION Mosaik developed a custom Network QoE application that measured the time to switch from LTE to 2G/3G when a call is placed. Additionally, the app measured time to return to LTE after a call, to ensure customers would regain access to the data network in a timely manner.
