TartuffeMusic and libretto by Kirke Mechem Based on the play of Moliere Directed by Hyrum Conrad Vocal direction by David Olsen

March 20-23, 26-30

7:30 pM, snow draMa theatre

Based on Moliere’s farce Tartuffe, this comic opera is set in 17th century Paris. As he created the work in 1980, composer-librettist Kirke Mechem removed from the libretto whatever he thought Moliere was forced to add to get the play past his contemporary censors and created a new ending for the plot. The score abounds in musical jokes, parody, caricature, and puns. The resulting production will be light-hearted, hilarious fun!
