Pre-Season Actions – Airport Preparation Staffing
• ABR Operations and Maintenance department includes;• Airport Operations and Maintenance Specialists – 4 FT employees• Airport Operations and Maintenance Specialists – 4 PT employees• Airport Terminal Custodian – 1 FT Employee• Airport Operations and Maintenance Manager – Mark Hanley• Airport Administrative Assistant – Rhea Ketterling• Transportation Director – Rich Krokel
Pre-Season Actions – Airport Preparation
• Conduct a pre-season meeting, generally in September, with airport Operations and Maintenance staff. Discussion includes;
• Equipment inventory.• Materials inventory.• Previous years successes and fails.• Repair needs.• Budget.• Staffing.• Any other topics that may arise.

• Personnel Training.• All airport operations and maintenance staff receive annual,
recurrent snow removal training. Training is conducted by the Transportation Director and the Operations and Maintenance Manager.

Pre-Season Actions - Training
• All employees are trained in compliance with Part .139• All employees participate in monthly NOTAM Manager conference
calls.• All FT and most PT staff are trained in equipment operations so
that anyone can operate any piece of to be more efficient at snow removal.

• Pre-season SICP meetings with staff.• Re-training staff on equipment operation.• Re-training staff on procedures;
• Flow rates and proper application of liquid and solid deicing compounds.• Methods of plowing, sweeping and blowing snow.• Review of last season’s successes and areas for improvement.• Monitoring WX conditions through assorted apps and radars.
Pre-Season Actions – Snow and Ice Control Committee (SICC) Meetings
• SICP meetings are conducted pre- and post-season.• Airport Staff, FBO’s, Pilots, Airline Manager, ARFF Officers and other
interested parties.• Topics of discussion include;
• Airport Priority I, II, and remaining areas for snow removal operations.• Clearing operations and follow-up airfield condition assessments.• Potential for pilot/vehicular runway incursions or incidents.• Staff requirements.• Communication between Airport and FBO’s with regard to scheduled flights.• RCAM and the NOTAM Manager system. Most tenants get the email notification
unless they opt out.

• Because each WX event is different, planning between TD and AOMM occurs to determine shifts and staffing needs.
• AOMM schedules and runs crews as needed.• Communication via texting.• Generally crews are 0200-1400, 1400-0200.• Three man crews, sometimes four.

• ABR is divided into three areas of snow removal priority;• Priority 1 surfaces include;
• RWY 13/31• TWY D• TWY B• ARFF Station access road• GA Ramp (partial)• Terminal (A/C) Ramp

• Priority 2 surfaces include;• RWY 17/35• TWY C, East of RWY 13/31• TWY C, Parallel to RWY 17/35• Remaining GA Apron, Tie-down area

• Remaining areas include;• Private hangar taxilanes• GA access road• Terminal access road• Parking lots• Fuel farm area and highway access

• Monitoring of the airfield for the duration of the event.• Frequently updating NOTAM’s through rapidly changing conditions
and at a minimum of every four hours when WX conditions subside.
• Post event monitoring and dealing with conditions as they arise.
