Words from the Editor
From the Pastor
Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
What a wonderful and exciting time in the life of Young Missionary Temple
C.M.E. Church. We are beginning our journey towards our 100th Church Anni-
versary. Not many people or things exist long enough to experience a
“Centennial Celebration,” but God the Father in His amazing grace has allowed
us to be able to experience this occasion. There were so many pastors and mem-
bers of the congregation who served in God’s venue here at YMT. God’s people
who went before us, left behind a legacy full of wonderful accomplishments and
proud moments. I am sure these Saints were not immune to the numerous
chal- lenges, struggles, and times of despair experienced by any group on a 100-
year journey. However, when serving God, we must remember the words of the
Apostle Paul to the Corinthians: Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast,
immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord
your labor is not in vain.
I am proud to be the current pastor and the one God has chosen and honored to
experience this grand occasion with a church having such a rich history. We are
indeed a church in love with God and God’s people.
We will be celebrating how far the Lord has allowed us to come, but also the
exciting things that lie ahead. To God be all the Glory.
We come to this place celebrating 100 years of serving God in the Christian
Methodist Episcopal Church tradition. Personally, I am elated to see the mighty
move of God. God allowed us to totally renovate our edifice, the congregation is
growing by leaps and bounds, baptisms of our youth are almost every month,
and the Holy Ghost is falling. Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready as the Church
who loves God and People enjoy A Mighty Move of God!
Choir Social - November 13thThere was a Choir Social held on November 13, 2015, for the purpose of getting closer to one another. The Bible says:
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! (HCSB)
The choir social was the idea of Isaiah Moore who functions as Minister of Music for YMT. Thanks to all who came out to support our choir social. We are looking forward to many more.
Winter Accounting MeetingThe Winter Accounting Meeting was held on Dec. 12, 2015, at Parkwood Insti-
tutional C.M.E. Church where Rev. Dr. Kathy Jones is the Pastor. It was an
ex- citing meeting held by our Bishop with great worship and preaching. Our
Presiding Elder, Rev. Clifton Harris, gave a great report on behalf of the Durham
Dis- trict. Praise God for the members of YMT who paid their conference claims
which enabled us to report round for the 5th consecutive year! God Bless You!
TrusteeAnniversary“All Working Together To Build God’s Kingdom”
On Sunday December 13, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. YMT’s Trustee Board celebrated the C.M.E. Church’s birthday withan afternoon worship service. Rev. Angela Black was the worship leader, William Sanders did the prayer, RebeccaShelton read the scripture, and Bro. Larry Davis welcomed our invited guest.
Our guest for the occasion was Grace AME Zion Church, Raleigh NC and Rev. Dr. Staccato Powell, wasour preacher for the service. He was assigned to GraceAME Zion in Dec. 2003. Upon his arrival, Grace had amembership of forty five, and God has added to thisfledging flock a number in excess of twelve hundred newcongregants. His passion is the "New Church," which heenvisions as a transformative body evidencing the signs tofollow them that believe given by Jesus in Mark 16.
Capital Nursing Home MinistryChristmas Celebration
The Board of Evangelism’s Christmas celebration was
held at Capital Rest Home on December 19, 2015. The Usher
Board from YMT for the last three years added to the Christ-
mas festivities by blessing each of the residents who attend
Bible Study and Saturday services with an array of gifts.
The sermon was entitled “You are Pregnant with
Promise, Presence, and God’s Protection” Matthew 1: 21-23. This scripture gives one hope
in Christ that “God is with us” through it all even when family and friends are not present.
The best Christmas is that God fulfilled the Promise of salvation in Jesus Christ, the
Presence of Christ in our lives that Protects us from our sins and evil. This is Providence,
God’s will to intercede and protect us from evil and give us the victory. We know that God
will never leave us or forsake us and will be with us always which means “You are Pregnant
with Promise, Presence, and God’s Protection.” The greatest gift of Christmas is salvation in
Jesus Christ. This year Jacinth McAllister along with her team adopted a special resident that
needed to be shown the love of a family. He was showered with much love, surprises, and
cheered as he opened his presents with a smile from ear to ear.
Much gratitude to all who came out to the Christmas Celebration: Pastor White and
the ministers that accompanied him, the Usher Board, and the Board of Evangelism. That’s
love!
Rev. La Tanya Sanders
Christmas Day ProgramFor to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on
his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
On Sunday December 20, 2015, Young Missionary Temple celebrated Christmas
during the morning worship service. Dr. Cheryl Kirk-Duggan taught us while
lighting the Advent Candle. The Children's Choir, Chosen Generation, blessed us
with songs of the holiday season. The service continued with “The Candy Cane
Moment” by Sis. Nellie Evans, the Christmas Skit entitled: “Scrooge” presented
by the Youth Ministry, Chosen Generation Dancers, L’il Drummer Boy by
Khirayle Cooper, and the finale, which was a reenactment of the birth of John the
Baptist and Jesus. We thank and praise God for all who participated in this year’s
Christmas program. Afterwards, we fellowshipped at Hibachi Grill China Buffet
Restaurant in Raleigh. Delicious!
Music Department Workshop
Minister Gabriel Sharp facilitated the second phaseof the workshop and taught the choirs two originalselections.
Minister Sharp is a native of Kansas City, Kansas, and began playing the organ at an early age. His organ
skills are profound and have led to many opportunities opening up to him, suchas playing the organ for major gospel artists. Minister Sharp has played for artistsuch as the Clark sisters, Ricky Dillard, Shirley Caesar, and others. MinisterSharp serves as Minister of Music for the 42nd Jurisdiction of the Church of Godin Christ, Inc. (COGIC). Minister Sharp also serves as Assistant Minister ofMu- sic at the Abundant Life Christian Center COGIC. Minister Sharp ismarried to Krystal Sharp and has 2 lovely daughters.
The Music Department is getting Stronger, Wiser, and Better all the time.
A Music Workshop was conducted on January 8, 2016, sponsored by Bro.
Isaiah Moore, Minister of Music, for YMT. The workshop began at 7:00 P.M. had
two phases, teaching and singing with different facilitators.
The first phase was facilitated by our pastor. His teaching used the title: “Let
Yourself Breath – Let Yourself Sing.” In this portion of the workshop, we learned
how to correctly use your diaphragm to breath in and out. Controlling your air is
vital if you want to be a good singer. He also taught us the 3 Golden Rules of
Singing: (1) Inhalation, (2) Pausing and Stabilization, and (3) Singing. We also
learned how and why having the correct singing posture ( i.e., alignment and
balance) relates to our singing. Oh, what a time we had blowing up balloons and
us- ing our breath to keep feathers in the air. Rev. Anwar Pace was the biggest
blow- hard in the Feather Icebreaker Contest. Pastor always makes things so
much fun and is a great facilitator.
HAPPINESS IS SINGING ON THE CHOIR!
COME JOIN US!
Board of Evangelism WorkshopThe Commission on Membership and
Evangelism presented a workshop on January
9, 2016 at Young Missionary C.M.E. Church
teaching was taken from the
entitled: “Gone Out Fishing for a Catch.” The
book“Evangelism and Church Growth” written by
Rev. Dr. W. C. Champion. This workshop calls
the CME Church to renew and refocus on its
primary purpose of evangelism. The second-
ary purpose cited was for the church to reded-
icate itself to carrying out the Great Commis-
sion of Jesus the Christ; “Go and make disci-
ples.”
The church’s primary mission is the saving ofsouls for the Lord Jesus Christ through spreading the gospel. The corpo-
rate mission is to enhance the spiritual life of the congregation moving
new converts from membership to discipleship.
One of the goals for this workshop was to help the attendees overcome
the fear of witnessing to others while on this journey. The church must
always seek opportunities to promote spiritual growth and discipleship.
Other focuses for the workshop was evangelistic prayer and faith sharing.
We hope to present the other two components of the book, evangelistic
worship/events and nurturing disciples in preparation for evangelism and
church growth, later this year.
Reverend Freddie McAllister discussed three important questions that we
should be able to share with others inside and outside the church. The
resource used for her portion of the workshop was “Catch Attracting &
Connecting Visitors” by Debi Williams Nixon with Adam Hamilton. These
three questions are important in soul winning: 1. Why do people need Je-
sus Christ?, 2. Why do people need the Church?, and 3. Why do people
need my particular church?, which was discussed by Sis. Delwyn King.
Rev. La Tanya Sanders, supported by Velma Britt presented Evangelistic
Prayer from the book: “A Formula for Evangelism and Church Growth.”
Prayer is essential for the spiritual awakening of every church and the
spark which ignites the fire of faith sharing evangelism. We must pray
without ceasing for souls to be saved. The Holy Spirit and prayer enables
the church to become an empowered and dedicated vessel for kingdom
building. Prayer should be especially made for those laboring in God’s
vineyards.
Sis. Rosa Riddick - President
B.O.E Workshop continuedMinister Georgette Watson taught on the topic of “Faith Sharing”. Faith
sharing is witnessing our faith through words and actions. Min. Watson
presented questions for discussion on faith sharing. For example: What
would be the impact on our church if each member brought someone to
Christ this year? Sister Rosa Riddick spoke to us about “Overcoming the
Fear of Witnessing” supported by Sister Diane Jenkins. Sis. Rosa Riddick
discussed overcoming the fear of witnessing, which is the main function of
the Holy Spirit. She presented this phase of faith sharing from a personal
prospective using scriptural references. There were thirty participants for
this workshop from several churches.
First, we want to thank God for the vision and for guiding us in all we do.
We thank God for the love and support of our Pastor. We thank God for
the attendance of Rev. William, and Dr. Annette Mosley and the
congregation from New Horizon C.M.E. Church, and Elder Crystal Ortiz,
Shalom Christian Community Church, Garner, N.C. Thanks to the members
of YMT’s B.O.E for their love, participation, and support. God Bless Sisters
Mozelle Harris, Charlotte McKenzie-Hunter, and Vivian Harvey along with
our YMT family, especially the children in attendance.
What a great workshop!

anniversary at the 3:00 P.M. worship service. Rev. Yvonne Mills served
as the worship leader, Sis. Barbara Kenan blessed us with the prayer, and
Mother Anna Leake read the scripture, and Sis. Nellie Evans welcomed
our guests. Also taking part in the service was Sis. Cleo Saulter, and Sis
Ida Dawson introduced our guest preacher, Rev. James O Perry, Pastor of
White Oak Missionary Baptist Church located in Middlesex, NC. We
were blessed with a powerful anointed message entitled: Commissioned
By Grace, from Galatians 1:11-24. The closing remarks were given by
Missionary President Sis. Cleo Saulter and Pastor White.
Saints Club RecognitionDay
The SAINTS Club celebrated their anniversary on
January 17, 2016. It was a great worship service as
Bro. Robert Williams led the body of believers in
the morning prayer, Sis. Nellie Evans read the
scripture, and Sis. Jessie Lewis delivered the
SAINTS Moment. Rev. Brenda Mills preached a
powerful and anointed message, entitled: Called to
a Spirit-Filled Life Serving the Lord, from
Philippians 4:4-8. Rev. Mills admonished us to live
a spirit-filled life of service.
God Bless all of our Saints!
Dr. Cheryl Kirk-DugganSpeaks at Wilson Mills Christian Center
On January 17, 2016, our very own Dr. Cheryl Kirk-Duggan preached at New
Generation Christian Center for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Service.
It was a great service with the music being rendered by the Smithfield
Community Gospel Choir. They literally sang until the power of the Lord came
down.
Dr. Kirk-Duggan preached a message entitled: Creative Extremist for Love and Justice, or Justice from the Drum Major. The Thesis: Because God created this world and made it good, but people do bad things, people of faith must engage a ministry of justice.
Scripture: Amos 5:21-24; Luke 10:25-27
Men’s Fellowship Movie NightOn January 29, 2016, the Men’s Ministry sponsored a movie
night held at the church to view “War Room.” The movie’s
title comes from the thought, "In order to stand up and fight
the enemy, you need to get on your knees and pray. Prayer is
one of the greatest instruments used to fight spiritual battles
and everyone needs a secret closet to pray and seek the Lord
for our strategy for living. The Bible says:
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and
when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in
secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward
thee openly. “Matthew 6:6”
Youth and Young Adult Week KickoffThe Youth and Young Adults kicked off their week during the
morning worship service with their guest speaker, our very
own Minister of Music, Isaiah Moore. Isaiah is also a minister
of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He preached a dynamic message
using the topic: “God Will Deliver Us out of It All,” taken
from the book of Job. Minister Isaiah took us all by surprise.
God has a heavy anointing on his life .
Fellowship @ New Horizon C.M.E. ChurchOn January 31, 2016, our congregation was invited to fellowship and worship with Rev. and
Dr. Mosley and the New Horizon C.M.E. Church family on their third Missionary Anniver-
sary. New Horizon is our Sister church located in the city of Raleigh. The theme for the day
was “Bringing in the Harvest by Actively Sowing Seeds of Righteousness as We Obey the
Great Commission. Prayer was given by Sis. Yvonne Stanback, Sis. Angela Williams read the
scripture, Sis. Lonntay Barber welcomed us and other guests, and Bro. Gerrod and Hassan
Stanback gave us a spirited selection of the 12 Days of Christmas. Pastor White’s soul stirring
message was from “Weeping to Reaping” taken from Psalm 126:1-2. Pastor White’s three
points were: (1) We need help from the Holy Spirit, (2) Keep sowing even in the worst of
times, and (3) Joy will come. Final Remarks were given by New Horizon’s Missionary
President, Sis Pamela Kirkland. The Word of the Lord truly blessed all in attendance.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Proverbs 18:2
He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord.
Congratulations!
One of the most exciting and memorable things which
happened on Valentine’s Day was the marriage proposalof Brother Keith Chapman. Bro. Chapman proposed to
his love, Sis. Tonya Allen, during the morning worship
service. We were all so very happy for the two of them. We
pray for their happiness now and forever!

My First Baptism
By Rev. An-War’ Pace
Baptism is a sacrament of the Christian church marked by the ritual use of water in
admitting converts into the Christian community by faith in Jesus Christ. The using of
water symbolizes purification of the soul.
On December 6,2015, I had the opportunity to baptize Kye’lliyah Hinton. I must admit I didn’t
expect my first time baptizing would come so fast. When I was called upon, I was a nervous
wreck. All I could think was that I wanted to do this right because this was a major part of
do- ing God’s work. I didn’t even think about what would happen if I didn’t do it all properly,
like if the person I was baptizing got water up their nose and all that could happen with that.
Quickly after a short prayer while I got dressed and ready to do the work for God, I got a few
encouraging words from Pastor and advice on how to handle it all properly. With a sigh and yet
another prayer, I knew God was with me and my pastor was behind me.
As I stepped into the water I saw all eyes were on me, so I knew then I had to do this right. When the candidate for baptism got into the water also, I wasn’t sure which one of us wasshaking the most. But after that it happened so fast I was relieved that all went well and myfirst baptism was behind me. I have to admit I didn’t feel like I was ready, but God knows a lotbetter what we are ready for and not. This was another experience in trusting and followingGod, and I’m glad I did. Later when I thought about it, after I preached the word on the Sun-day before it was the same new Christian that gave her life that I was honored to baptize, howgreat is the God we serve.
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to
new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
