Teens in the Driver Seat . . . . As parents, we know you want to keep your children safe. Teens are much more at-risk than
the rest of the population due to their inexperience in handling driving situations. One of the
best ways to ensure your teen is safe is to make sure they have had adequate instruction.
Here are FOUR reasons why:
New Curriculum Canby School District has implemented the State-approved driver education
curriculum titled Playbook®. This Oregon Driver Risk Prevention curricu-
lum is interactive and dedicated to exceptional in-car preparation that strives
for a lifetime of low-risk driving. Students should be prepared to experience
driver education the way parents NEVER did!
DMV Skills Test Waiver Canby School District is an Approved Provider for the DMV Skills Test Waiver!
The Oregon DMV will waive the skills test for any student* who has successfully completed
all requirements of an ODOT approved Driver Education course and been issued the new
Certificate of Completion plastic card. This card is what your student will show the DMV
field office in order to waive the skills test for their license when the time is right! (*Does not
apply to students 18+ years of age. These students will receive a different Certificate of
Completion for insurance purposes.)
Subsidy Program Available New this school year is a $75 subsidy program* for students that qualify for the Free/Reduced
lunch program or Oregon SNAP/TANF benefits. Applicants must provide a letter from Canby
School District Nutritional Services (or SNAP/TANF) verifying benefits in order to qualify for
the $75 reduction off the cost of Driver Education (at time of registration). (*This benefit
applies only to students under 18+ years of age and without a license.)
Keep driver education local for your student! The safety of your student is our primary concern. Our
instructors have taught hundreds of novice drivers over the
years right here in Canby. The program is designed to
meet your student’s driving needs, and do so in a fun,
friendly and educational atmosphere.
Canby School District driver education vehicles are
equipped with modern safety features including anti-lock
brakes, air bags, instructor brake and mirrors, and are clearly marked as driver education
vehicles. All instructors have been approved by the Oregon DMV and ODOT, and have
passed the same criminal background checks required of licensed teachers.
