Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus Success Plan User Guide
Document PurposeThis document is intended to guide a Microsoft FastTrack Partner and Microsoft Account Team on how to complete a Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus success plan in order to help a prospective FastTrack customer successfully deploy Windows and Office. The user guide explains how the sample success plan was created for the fictious company CONTOSO. All of the questions in the Success Plan Business Case, Services Readiness, and Adoption Planning sections must be completed including the summary of the current environment (both installed base and forecast for next 12 months). The questions detailed in the Success Plan Onboarding section are considered optional, although we strongly recommend that you answer as many of the questions as possible as they will lead to the creation of a more comprehensive success plan and will help to guide the deployment engagement by highlighting products, technologies and processes that are currently used by the customer for software update management, security, compliance, application management, and application compatibility. Microsoft FastTrack Partners and Microsoft Account Teams should also feel free to add any information necessary to the success plan to reflect the proposed deployment engagement.

Success Plan SummaryThis section provides a high level summary description of the plan that will become the focus for the rest of the FastTrack engagement. Provide a short (1000-character) description of the plan to ensure it can readily be identified. This typically covers the business requirements i.e. what the solution must deliver in order to meet a business challenge or opportunity, technical requirements i.e. the technical parameters and feature characteristics of the solution, and operation requirements i.e. the regions impacted and the supportability and usability of the solution.Example: Contoso will use a traditional Wipe-and-Load approach to deploy Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus, and roll-out modern devices providing additional security, productivity and mobility, in North America, across sales and marketing. This process will be used to capture data and settings, deploy (custom) OS images, inject drivers, install apps, and restore data and settings. A thin image will be used and all apps will be applied at deploy time of the OS or post-install. OS deployment must support over-the-wire and stand-alone deployment solution. PXE-support is needed at major locations. User state migration is needed and there are at least 5 custom applications that need their settings and data migrated.
ScopeThis section provides a drop down list of workloads to choose from for the Success Plan. Simply select all of the workloads required to meet your success plan solution goals (i.e. Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus). If you have already conducted a Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus Value Discovery Workshop with the customer you can select the workshop results and the scenarios will be imported to start your success plan.Example:

Description
Contoso wants to move away from their home-grown method of OS deployment and use standard Microsoft tools. Contoso places a high premium on end-user experience and cannot afford for user data and settings to be lost during migration from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. They are also very concerned about user training for Office 365 ProPlus, since Office 2007 is use throughout the organization.
Solution The Wipe-and-Load process will be used to capture data and settings, deploy (custom) OS images, inject drivers, install apps, and restore data and settings. Additional requirements gathering is needed to further engineer the specifics of a custom image. Contoso can use Software Assurance benefits and choose various levels of end-user training.
Technologies Contoso can take advantage of the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2013 to deploy a Windows 10 image. System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager could also be considered for application deployment, OS deployment, and management. The User State Migration Tool (USMT) provides enterprise level capabilities to migrate user data and settings. USMT integrates with MDT and Configuration Manager.

RisksThis section documents any issues, constraints or risks that need to be considered as part of the success plan. For each risk identified specify the anticipated impact of the risk (low, medium or high) and the probability of it happening (low, medium or high). Also for each of the identified risks provide strategies to be implemented to mitigate and have an action contingency if required.Example:RISK IMPACT PROBABILITYRemote sites have limited bandwidth
Low Low
Limited development staff to evaluate in-house applications
High Medium
Driver support for 64bit OS for certain devices used in the field
Low Medium
Change in scope Low Medium
Schedule slips past completion deadline
High High
Risk Remote sites have limited bandwidthMitigation/Contingency
Research use of Branch Cache and stand-alone media
Risk Limited development staff to evaluate in-house applicationsMitigation/Contingency
Additional external resources may be needed
Risk Driver support for 64bit OS for certain devices used in the fieldMitigation/Contingency
Investigate with OEM if compatible with Windows 10
Risk Change in scopeMitigation/Contingency
While every effort has been made to ensure that the scope of the deployment is clearly documented in this deployment plan, unforeseen circumstances and business conditions may result in a sudden change of scope. To reduce the risk of additional scope items being introduced after success plan kickoff, the draft deployment plan will be circulated for review with all stakeholders before the plan is finalized and work begins. Any request for change in scope will be reviewed by the success plan sponsor and success plan owner and, if possible, deferred to a follow-up success plan after the completion of this success plan.If a scope change is deemed necessary and approved by the success plan sponsor, the success plan team will identify the effort required to make the change and any additional costs the success plan will incur. As this item would not have been budgeted for, the success plan owner will seek additional budget from the success plan sponsor, or requestor.

Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus Success Plan User Guide
Risk Schedule slips past completion deadlineMitigation/Contingency
The success plan sponsor has indicated that for budget reasons, this success plan must be completed by the defined timeline. If the success plan draws out longer than this, additional costs from supporting the existing platform may be incurred. To reduce the risk of success plan slippage, a 1 week buffer has been added to the end of every phase to account for any potential overruns. If a slippage does occur, the success plan owner will communicate any impact to the success plan sponsor in the weekly status report. If a phase slips longer than the allocated buffer time, low priority tasks will be cut from the success plan and will be reviewed for inclusion in a post-deployment success plan.
