FREE THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 2016 Windham Swing Band to perform at Belmont's Tioga Pavilion BELMONT — Satur- day, June 25 at 6:30 p.m., the Windham Swing Band will be performing at the Tioga Pavilion in Belmont. The post and beam, open air pavilion is located on Mill Street next to the Belmont Mill, and offers a beau- tiful setting for an eve- ning band concert. Founded in 1998 as part of the Windham Community Bands, the Windham Swing Band is a full 18-piece big band with saxophones, trombones, trumpets, bass, percussion and vo- calist. Since 2004, it has been led by professional reedman and teacher Rob Daisy. Based in southern New Hamp- shire, the group plays an active year-round schedule of concerts, dances, and functions throughout the area. The Windham Swing Band plays music from the Big Band Era to the present, featuring many familiar stan- dards such as “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and “In the Mood.” Its ballroom dance repertoire rang- es from swing, waltz, and foxtrot to cha-cha, mambo, samba, rumba, and hustle. Now in his thirteenth year as Di- rector, Rob Daisy has developed the Windham Swing Band in the musi- cal traditions and styles of the Big Bands. Rob is an outstanding and versatile professional woodwind player (sax, clarinet, flute, oboe), private teacher and di- rector. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon Uni- versity, with extensive professional experience in classical and popular music, musical comedy and jazz. His experi- ence includes stints in Pittsburgh, Germany, and Hawaii before com- ing to New Hampshire in 2001. Sunday, June 26 at 9:30 am, the first Farm- ers' Market of the sum- mer will bring some new and some returning faces to the Tioga Pa- vilion. Come see what our local vendors have to offer, while enjoying live music and a demon- stration by Olivia Ta- tro. Olivia is a young entrepreneur and self- taught balloon artist. Sure to be a big hit with the kids, as well as the young at heart! Make it a morning to reconnect with friends or to make new friends. Windham Swing Band to perform at Belmont's Tioga Pavilion
