TASK

• Watching the video Win a Trip to Africa! and answering some questions about it in groups.

PREPARATION AND MATERIALS

• Prepare one answer sheet per group.

• A PowerPoint presentation with the questions and the answers. TIMING 25 minutes.

PROCEDURE

• Tell students that they will watch a video about how some people won a trip to Africa. They will take part in a listening contest.

• Explain that they must listen to it and take notes in order to answer some questions about it later on. Tell them that they will watch it twice.

• Make sure that all the students are ready to take notes and play the video twice.

• Divide your class into groups of three or four students.

• Distribute an answer sheet per group and tell them that they will have to complete it (in groups) writing down the correct answer for each question.

• Show the PowerPoint presentation. Each slide contains a question about the video (there are 10 questions altogether).

• Once you have shown the 10 questions and each group has written down their answers on their answer sheet, tell them to swap their answer sheet with the group next to them.

• Now show the slides with the correct answers. The groups must check if the answers on the answer sheet are correct or not.

• The winner is the group with the most correct answers.

• In order to answer the questions in groups, students have to look at their notes, compare them and then reach an agreement among them.

• Once you have finished, you can do a follow – up speaking activity asking them if they would like to win a trip to Africa, if they would take part in this kind of

competition etc.
