• William Lloyd Garrison was born in December 10, 1905.
• Born in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
• He is the son of a merchant sailor.
• His mother is a devout Baptist named Frances Maria.
• Garrison died may 24, 1879 in New York City.
• As a child, Garrison lived with a Baptist deacon for a time, where he received a rudimentary education.
• In 1814, he reunited with his mother and took an apprenticeship as a shoemaker.
• His work proved too physically demanding as a young boy.
NO SLAVERYFOURTH OF JULY
• The rally started by Garrison in July 4, 1851 was one of the most controversial performance of his career.
• He survived to see Abraham Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War. Thirty-four years after first publishing The Liberator, Garrison saw the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution go into effect, banning slavery forever. It took a lifetime of work. But in the end, the morality of his position held sway.
WORKS/ACCOMPLISHMENT
• As a 13 years old, Garrison was appointed to a seven-year apprenticeship as a writer and editor under Ephraim W. Allen, the editor of Newburyport Herald.
• In 1826, he purchased The Newburyport Essex Courant.
• He was a publisher of the Liberator.
• He founded the New England Anti-slavery society.
• When he was 25, Garrison had joined the American Colonization Society.
• He was the Co-editor of the Genius of Universal Emancipation.
• He was the Editor of the National Philanthropist.
• He was put in jail for a short time for libeling and merchant.

• The Liberator was responsible for initially building Garrison’s reputation as an abolitionist.
• His dream had come true as the thirteenth amendment outlaw slavery throughout the United States.
• He had became an Abolitionist to change the view of society on slavery and help passed the 13th Amendment.
