the country decided by children

Nominated Books Must be published within the past

year

Authors must be from the United States, Canada or Mexico

Text must be fiction, non-fiction or poetry

Selection committee chooses books for their originality, vitality, accuracy and sincerity

On the Road to Mr. Mineo’s

Sherman , a homing pigeon, who has gone missing from Mr. Mineo’s flock, flies into town and causes a ruckus. Throughout the book, a variety of different characters, Stella, Ethel and Amos, Mutt Raynard and Stella’s little brother Levi chase Sherman all over town wanting him for their own. Meanwhile, Mr. Mineo is waiting for Sherman to come home.
