  • WILDERNESS TRAIN

Experience the high clear air and the blazing autumn colours in Northern Sweden in late August on a magnificent train journey. We start in Stockholm, pass Gävle and Järvsö up to Östersund, where we connect to the Inlandsbanan which we follow all the way up to Gällivare. Then we continue on Malmbanan to the most northern parts of the country, to Björkliden and Abisko. A guaranteed unique and unforgettable journey when we travel from summery Stockholm up to colourful autumn scenery past the Arctic Circle and into the Arctic regions of Sweden. During the trip, we enjoy good food prepared by the excellent chefs on board the train, and also stop at local restaurants to taste local produce. In Jokkmokk we experience a unique taste show with Eva Gunnare and get to know the delicacies of the area. One of the nights is spent at the original Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, which now has cold accommodation all year round. The trip includes warm hotel accommoda- tion, a guided tour in the Icehotel, a drink at the Icebar, dinner and ice sculpting. If you want to stay in cold accommodation please let us know when booking. Once in Abisko / Björkliden we have a day off for our own activities. Visit Narvik in Norway, discover the region on your own, or get help from experienced guides. This is the last trip of three unique trips with the Wilderness Train in 2019, a collaboration between Inlandsbanan and the Swedish Railway Museum. The journey is made in a classic train with comfortable first class carriages, restaurant and bar onboard. The towing power is electric, diesel and steam on different parts of the journey.
