By Matthew Britten
Lions
African lions are the second largest cats in the world. Lions eat baby elephants, giraffes, hippopotamus and Cape buffalo. A group of female lions are called a pride and a group of male lions are called a coalition.
Hippos
Hippos rest in water to keep their temperature down. Hippos eat grass, water plants and vegetables.
A group of hippos is known as a herd pod dale or bloat. The name hippo means river horse.
Wildebeests
Wildebeests eat grass. Wildebeest can live for a few days without water. They numbered about 250,000 in 1960 and are thought to number 1.5 million today.
