A game of links and divisions.

RULES

WIKI SCHISMS

1. Pick two topics, nouns, phrases at random (devising your own methods, ie. picking out of a hat, etc). eg ‘Octopus’ and ‘Peacock’.

2. Once the two subjects have been chosen, the aim is to link the two unrelated topics in the least number of links, through their respective Wikipedia pages.

3. On each of the pages, write down the linking sentence of each page. Using your own discretion, use or omit any of the words, but ALWAYS use the hyper linked word. eg. (HYPERLINKS)

‘OCTOPUS’ to ‘PEACOCK’

1.…the octopus is a CEPHALOPOD MOLLUSC of the ORDER Octopoda.

2. a BEAK, similar in shape to a PARROT’S beak, is the only hard part of their body.

3.Parrots…are birds of roughly 372 SPECIES in 86 GENERA that make up the ORDER psittaciformes.

4.Modern birds are CHARACTERISED by FEATHERS.

5. In India, feathers of the INDIAN PEACOCK have been used in traditional medicine for snakebite, infertility and coughs.

4. Now take each HYPERLINK from these sentences, and place them in a list format. (You can leave this as your finished prose poem).

eg.CEPHALOPOD MOLLUSC ORDERBEAK PARROT’SSPECIESetc...

5. If you fail to link the two subjects, stop the game. (You can however, still use the hyperlinks that you have already acquired).

6. If you wish to continue, change the style of your prose poem into more of a poetic structure, using the sentences

(or sentence fragments) you have recorded, and create a proverb, a metaphor or a conditional.

Proverbial statement:COUGHS ARE CHARACTERISED BY FEATHERS.

Conditional:IF A BIRD IS SIMILAR IN SHAPE TO IT’S BEAK,THEN THE BODY IS A MOLLUSC OF INFERTILITY.
