Why are we here today? To share information and ask you: • Is a Village Green for Dinner Plain important to you? • Do you think that the proposed Village Green project will

Why a Village Green? • May 2015: Identified as a potential project in Dinner Plain

Master Plan.

• April 2016: Consultation with DP community showed 46% of respondents would like a ‘village green or oval open space area’ developed.

• August 2016: DPAC direction: Investigate potential for event space approximately 1.85ha, including 1.3ha open area, to accommodate Polo and other events.

Benefits • Provide a large flat open space suitable for informal

recreation or for cultural and sporting events.

• The Cost Benefit Analysis estimated a cost benefit ratio (CBR) of $1.08 returned for every $1 spent.

Impacts • Ecological impacts.

– Removal of 1.85ha of Sub-alpine Woodland vegetation, including large old trees.

– Habitat for the Victorian Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 listed species: Alpine Bog Skink.

– Modelled habitat for 27 species, 12 of which require specific offsets.

• Cultural heritage impacts. • Landscape and visual impacts.



Risks • Increased capital costs (negative impact on CBR).

• Securing adequate specific flora and fauna offsets.

• Securing approvals from authorities (eg DELWP).
