Baralaba’s motto, “Success by effort”, underpins all school programs and is based on the assumption that every student can learn and have success. The learning and the well-being of students is central to our teaching and learning program and these embrace the diverse learning needs of our students. Our Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Plan achieves the aims of the P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework by: Providing students with the required curriculum Assessing, monitoring and capturing student achievement Setting high expectations for each student and by responding effectively to their current levels of achievement and differing rates of learning Providing feedback to parents and students around the student’s achievement throughout their schooling. Baralaba State School offers a curriculum structured around all eight Learning Areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education (HPE), Technologies, The Arts and Languages within the time allocations applicable to the recommendations for Queensland State Schools as specified in Providing the Australian Curriculum in Prep to Year 10 in Queensland state schools from 2017. In 2019, our school’s priorities are Literacy (Reading and Writing) Curriculum (embedding the Australian Curriculum in our classrooms) Embedding the new State Delivered Kindergarten Service Program. Background Information: State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK) Program In November 2018, the Education (General Provisions) (Prescribed State Schools) Amendment Regulation 2018 was passed in Parliament. This means that Baralaba State School officially became one of the 37 Queensland state schools that could offer a State Delivered Kindergarten Service in 2019. It means that the hard work of continuously fundraising for our previous eKindy Program is no longer required. It means that Kindy aged children of Baralaba were able to access a Kindergarten service at the local school. It means that Baralaba SS needs to strictly adhere to the policies, regulations and procedures of the SDK Program to maintain our Service Agreement Approval. It means that Baralaba SS is now a Kindy to Year 10 school. In 2019, Baralaba State School provides a stand alone service under the Education and Care Services Act 2013 (QLD) because there are four or less children enrolled in the SDK Program and Baralaba SS has a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). In 2020, Baralaba State School will provide an approved service under the National Law and National Regulations provided by ACECQA. Baralaba SS will provide an approved service because there are more than four Kindy children enrolled in the SDK Program. Baralaba SS is required to have a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), will need to use the QKLG for its curriculum and will be assessed and rated by the Regulatory Authority. This approval rating process will begin in 2019.

Baralaba State School’s Whole School Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Plan (WSC&RP) provides an outline of the curriculum offered in Kindy to Year 10. Baralaba’s motto, “Success by effort”, underpins all school programs and is based on the assumption that every student can learn and have success. The learning and the well-being of students is central to our teaching and learning program and these embrace the diverse learning needs of our students. Our Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Plan achieves the aims of the P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework by:

Providing students with the required curriculum

Assessing, monitoring and capturing student achievement

Setting high expectations for each student and by responding effectively to their current levels of achievement and differing rates of learning

Providing feedback to parents and students around the student’s achievement throughout their schooling. In 2019, our school’s priorities are

Literacy (Reading and Writing)

Curriculum (embedding the Australian Curriculum in our classrooms)

Embedding the new State Delivered Kindergarten Service Program.

Background Information: State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK) Program

In November 2018, the Education (General Provisions) (Prescribed State Schools) Amendment Regulation 2018 was passed in Parliament.
