WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR

YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

GENDER My magazine is non-gender specific, it is open for anyone

who takes an interest in house music. First and foremost, I did this to avoid prejudice, but to also appeal to a wider audience. The general mood set within my magazine is fairly relaxed, therefore appealing or hoping to appeal to both genders, as there isn’t an overwhelming ‘rave’ theme which may seem more suitable to males. And there isn’t a pop mainstream theme either as this may seem more suitable for females. There is no specific gender as sales for my magazine would generate far more money if there were to be twice the amount of people buying my magazine rather than if there were only one gender buying. Plus, only selling to one main gender would restrict productivity in my magazine as it would become labelled meaning it would be able to grow as a brand.

RELATION WITH OTHER PRODUCTS My magazine is most probably age appropriate for

those of mid adolescence to say 25, young adult. This age range is most appropriate as people of these ages are most likely to take greater interest in house music, which is the more prominent genre of the magazine. Power sits inbetween a younger music medium such as ‘Top Of The Pops’ and ‘MOJO’ which is aimed for those

who are of an older generation.

PERSONALITY Fans of Power magazine are people who are

excitable and lively whilst also considerate, as they really understand the music, and do not only become involved for the supposed scene. Fans should also include musicians and music producers who want to share their love of music with others. Even though energetic, I would hope that those interested in Power magazine would also have an intellectual side of their personality. People who have ambitions to succeed later in life, not just those who live only in the present. Fans may have interests such as art, writing literature and working in technology, habits that involve creativity.

INTERESTS Without trying to seem arrogant my magazine would

most likely appeal to people of middle-upper class. Not dismissing people of lower-class as they would be more than welcome to buy my magazine but through presentation and fashion used by artists it would seemingly not be suited to them. I believe anyone who is interested in Power has a edgy personality that makes them stand out amongst their peers. Someone who wears bright and fashionable styles of clothing that is resembling of their person. Power fans should often present themselves in overt prestige- an image whereby they can relate to everyone in the same manner and express themselves instead of someone who only cares about the opinion of those who are friends.
