Macbeth
By- Harsh Fazil Zeeshan Shafat Altamash Eram
A long time ago there was a king named Duncan. He had a brave warrior called Macbeth who had just fought a war and was victorious. On their way back, Macbeth and his best friend Banquo reached a place where they met three witches.
Macbeth
Who are you?!
Show
yourself!!
Banquo:
Yes, show
yourself or
meet your
doom!
The three witches
prophesize that
Macbeth will
become the Thane
of Cawdor and then
king. As for Banquo,
though he won't
become king
himself, his children
will become so.
Macbeth, however,
didn’t believe them.
Macbeth: I don’t
believe you
freaks! Come
on, Banquo,
let’s be on our
way!
Macbeth reaches back to the kingdom, and King Duncan welcomes him back.
King Duncan:
Welcome back my son,
I heard the great news
of our victory. And
that deed deserves a
reward. From now on,
you shall be known as
the Thane of Cawdor!
Macbeth couldn’t believe it. The prophecy of witches came true as he was made the Thane of Cawdor. He then went to his wife, Lady Macbeth, and told her about the witches’ prophecy.
Macbeth: Do you believe
this nonsense?!
Lady Macbeth: I think
you have the capability
of becoming a king!
Don’t be afraid, go ahead
and kill Duncan.
Macbeth thinks about it and reaches the conclusion that he should kill King Duncan.
Lady Macbeth: I would’ve killed him but he looks too much like my father.Macbeth: Fine! I’ll do it myself and blame it on the bodyguards.
Thus, Macbeth kills King Duncan.
King Duncan: Why did you do this to me?! After all I have done for you!! You shall suffer! Mark my words!
Macduff arrives at the scene.
Macbeth: The bodyguards. I couldn’t bear them! When I saw the bloody daggers in their hands, I killed them myself!!
Macduff: What
happened to the
king!? Who
killed him?!
Fearing for their lives, Duncan’s sons Malcolm and Donalbain fled to England. Macbeth now hires two murders to kill Banquo and his son Fleance.
Banquo: Ohhh! What’ve I ever done to you?! It didn’t have to be like this. I hope my son remains safe from this evil. One day, my death shall be avenged!!
Banquo is killed, but Fleance escapes.Later on at a banquet, Macbeth sees Banquo’s ghost. This causes him to become terrified and the other Thanes becomes concerned.
Macbeth: Go away! Leave me alone!!
Lady Macbeth: Keep calm dear. (To the Thanes) I apologize for this odd behavior, but my Lord isn’t feeling well.
Sensing something wrong, Macbeth visits the witches once more. This time the witches tell him to beware of Macduff, not to fear any man born of a woman, and that he won’t fall until Birnam woods comes to the castle.Meanwhile, the Thanes turn against him.
Macbeth: I am Macbeth!! No one can defeat me!!
On the other hand, Malcolm and Macduff unite to defeat Macbeth. Macbeth had Macduff’s family murdered. Unable to handle all this, Lady Macbeth commits suicide. Unmoved by this incident, Macbeth carried on with his sinister plans. Soon enough, Malcolm and Macduff’s army approaches his castle disguised using branches from Birnam woods.
Macbeth: This can’t be happening!!
Afterwards Macduff and Macbeth come face to face.
Macduff: Enough of your evilness! You die here and now!!Macbeth: In your dreams! No man born of a woman can kill me!!Macduff: I wasn’t born of a woman, I was cut off from my mother’s womb early…
After a vicious fight, Macduff rips off Macbeth’s head. Malcolm was made king, and peace was finally restored to the kingdom.
