Failure to know God’s word has been a problem ever since God presented His first words to man. When people followed God’s revealed will, men were blessed, but a failure to follow God’s message to mankind has always resulted in terrible consequences. Hosea 4:6 says “Man was destroyed from a lack of knowledge of God’s word”. A very sad situation occurred in Israel due to a famine of the word of God in the land (Amos 8:11). Jesus said “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. (John 8:31-32) For successful Bible reading, we must have a plan. For instance, we may look for statements in the Old Testament that are fulfilled in the New Testament. We learn how God dealt with His people in the Old Testament. One obvious thing is the fact that He expected them to fully obey Him. They were blessed if they did, but He punished them severely if they did not. This helps us to realize every blessing we are promised will be ours if we do His will, but just as surely we will experience His wrath in eternity if we do not obey Him. In preparation for this study, we recommend you getting a Bible that you can mark in such as making notes or underlining. We suggest you not use an “easy-read” Bible for this study. Such can be misleading and serve as a crutch instead of digging for the meaning yourself. The New King James (NKJV), the New American Standard Bible (NASB), or the English Standard Version (ESV) would be our suggestion. However, you will want to read other versions along with these. Our plans are to write articles that will help you with your reading. Ralph Taylor The Youth Group is planning monthly devotionals for the 2017 New Year. Thank You

Again, you have gone above and beyond what I deserve. I cannot put into words what it meant to me, the things you did for me on my birthday. The uplifting cards, the gifts, the phone calls, and visits. It makes one proud to be around people who understand the meaning of God’s love. May I serve God in a way that will please Him, and always serve His people the best way I can. I love all of you and I thank God by His grace He has let me live this long. And my prayer is that God will bless us all in the upcoming years. Buddy Driver Thank you again and again. It is truly a blessing to have our Christian brothers and sisters rally around us after the passing of our loved one. We want to thank you for the many prayers, cards, and flowers. We want to thank all those who prepared and brought food. We want to express a special thank you to Doug Couch for the wonderful service and tribute for Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. In Christian Love, The Baker Family To the Church Ladies, Corey and I would like to thank you all for the wonderful gifts and being a part of our wedding shower! You are all invited to our wedding Saturday, January 7, 3:00pm, at Grace Valley Farm in Shelbyville. Love, Kaley Gross and Corey Albert
