For many who fast during the holy month, the hunger is a cleansing process of the soul. It allows the observer to physically train for many individual and social virtues.

While a majority of us focus on the weight loss aspect of fasting, perhaps one of the most neglected benefit of fasting is Compassion.

Man's sense of compassion springs from his feeling of pain, and fasting is a practical means to develop compassion in his spirit. Widespread broadcasts of quotes may do little unless this compulsory experience of sympathy and compassion with the less fortunate is adopted in our routines.

Companies are now offering subscription to cosmetics based on customer selections from a large variety of skin care and nutraceutical products. This allows the customer to select products tailor made for their skin or body and also save money while doing so.

This kind of Direct Response Marketing allows the brand to effectively talk about why their product is suitable for their condition and also provide a convenient way to purchase it.

Affordable Cosmetics

As the global petro-landscape undergoes tumultuous changes, consumers are slowly beginning to feel the after-effects. Infact, many large scale retailers are slowly adapting to these changing trends.

Japanese retail chain, DAISO, has an entire aisle of refillable cosmetic jars and tubes. Customers can now transfer the contents from the 250ml container to small 30ml containers very easily.

Environmentally friendly products

The latest trend to sweep the industry is all about

saving the earth: beauty companies are finally

hopping aboard the green train and trying to

make their product packaging more sustainable.

"Green packaging" include the materials the

containers are made of (Less plastics, more

biodegradable materials), the shape in which a

product is made (square packaging wastes less

space while packaging and shipments) amongst

other.

Few companies such as Clarins are now

producing "Anti-Pollution" products to safeguard

consumers from the harmful effects of air-

pollution on the skin. 

One thing is for sure, consumers now care about

clean products and a cleaner environment.
