Where’s That Sound?A Listening Game for Beginning and Ending Sounds

Included in the Pack:Beginning and Ending Sound cards for B, C/K, T, N, P, M, S, and G

To Prepare:• Cut out “beginning” and “end” head words (pg. 2). Laminate for

durability.• Pick one sound you’d like the child to focus on at a time. More

advanced children may be able to play the game using more than one sound. Print off, cut out, and laminate those sound cards.

To Play:• Place the “beginning” and “end” words at the top of your work space.• Shuffle your beginning and ending sounds (for the same letter, for

example T)• Show the child one picture at a time. Say the picture’s name together. • Ask the child, “Where’s the T sound?” (at the beginning or the end of

the word).• The child sorts the word under “beginning” or “end”.If you are working with (or assessing) multiple children at the same time, each child could be given their own “beginning” and “end” cards. For each picture you hold up, they each hold up the appropriate card, either “beginning” or “end” for where they hear the sound.
