Our children have made a wonderful start returning to online learning, having a go at completing their tasks, engaging with their teacher and friends during the Live Learning sessions and having a great attitude to being back in this situation. Our staff Thank you to our fantastic staff who have put a great deal of work into the preparation of online learning 2.0. They have done a wonderful job reflecting on what worked best last time and making changes to ensure students receive the best learning opportunities, while once again in the online teaching space. It will be OK! We are very aware of the real challenge of Home Learning for families, having to juggle your own work demands and other commitments. I would like to emphasis to each family, that you make Home Learning work for your family and make the necessary changes to suit your family. We have placed a focus on English and Mathematics, in the first part of the day and the rest of the day is devoted to the Specialist programs and less reliance on screen time. Please do what you can, in a way that works for your family. It will be OK! As a staff, we highlighted wellbeing as a priority. We are conducting two Live Learning sessions each day which will enable teachers to lead the learning directly, but most importantly, children can see and speak to their teacher and their friends daily. Another highlight is Wellbeing Wednesday, Mr Faraci, our School Counsellor and Ms Pat, our Wellbeing Leader helped staff develop lessons. In this week’s wellbeing session the children were introduced to the concepts of Setbacks, Resilience and Hope within the context of our current lockdown situation. The wellbeing section of this newsletter has more information about these sessions. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by COVID-19 and we pray that all staff, students and families at St Paul’s remain safe and healthy. Where Learning & Wellbeing Matter

A reminder to families, as part of our attendance guidelines and requirements we need to indicate whether our students are onsite or engaged in offsite remote learning from home. Please remind your children to mark the daily attendance roll each day before they commence Live Learning. If your child is learning remotely but is unable to work on their learning because they are sick, etc. could you please contact the school to let us know either via a phone call, email or the absentee form on the Skoolbag app.

If you receive a text message from school stating that your child is absent from school without a reason, it is probably because they have not logged onto the roll. Please contact the office to notify us that they either forgot to logon or are unwell.

Face coveringsStaff are required to wear a mask at school but not when they are working directly with children. Children are not required to wear masks. Any parent who visits the school must wear a mask as per the Government requirements. Thank you to all families for working together to ensure the safety of all during these times.

Congratulations! To Mrs Elizabeth and her husband Gabriel on the birth of their third child Marcus. A much welcomed little brother for Lia and Zoe.

This week, the children kicked off their live learning adventures with a song. I think music is a blessing especially during this time. It can help us connect with others and it reminds us that despite the challenges that we face, there is joy to be had through song. Thank you to both Elliot and Lexi who posted a photo of themselves singing.Families, if you have any photos of your child’s learning in Performing Arts that you would like to share, please email them across to me. I can then post some of these photos as part of future school newsletters. My address is:[email protected]

Welcome back readers to Term 3!

LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT READING! This week, we feature Sophia (Year 1/2A) who has been enjoying a popular non-fiction title 'JoJo's Guide to the Sweet Life'. It's wonderful to see students borrowing from the non-fiction section of our library. JoJo's interactive story inspires young readers to find the courage and confidence to go after their dreams. There is something extra special for young readers when they are able to get a glimpse into the lives of icons they admire and often connections can be made. Other inspiring books about outstanding people in our library include Greta Thurberg, Anne Frank, Gandhi, Mother Teresa & Stephen Hawking to name just a few.

Although students are not at school, please keep sharing pics of your latest read! It’s a wonderful way to connect & enjoyed by all.Thank you for all photos sent to date! Please continue to email to:[email protected]

Although we are working remotely, it was wonderful to catch up and see students enthusiastically borrowing from the library last week before picking up their learning packs. Enjoy the extra reading!
