Where is London ?
London
• London is the biggest city in Britain and in Europe
• Almost 8 million people live in the city.
• The main language spoken is English.
• Many people also speak other languages.
The Weather• Summers are warm,
with average temperatures of 20C.
• It can rain
- Winters in London are chilly.-Snow is uncommon!- It can rain.
- In Autumn the leaves change colour to orange and red, and fall off the trees.
- It can rain.
• In the Spring it usually rains.
Buildings
• Most people in London live in flats.
• Some people live in houses.
• The tallest building in London is the Canary Wharf Tower.
Transport
• There are many different ways to move around the city.
• Some people drive cars or ride bikes.
• Others use public transport like the bus, taxi, train or the underground (tube).
London's double-decker red buses are world famous.
Underground Trains (The Tube)
• The quickest way to get around London is the Tube.
• About 2.5 million passengers use the tube each day.
• London has 3 main airports, which are all located on the outskirts of the city: Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead.
• Heathrow is the world’s busiest airport.
Attractions and Leisure
• London has lots of monuments and places of interest to visit.
• There are 120 theatres and over 300 museums and art galleries.
