When Prophets Pray:The Power of Prophetic Int

Prophets, Prayer, and Pit3That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thingthat we may do.4Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will prayunto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, thatwhatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keepnothing back from you.5Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, ifwe do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall sendthee to us.

Introduction and Prophetic Foundations

Before we can even discuss the weighty topic of when prophets pray, we must firstlay some prophetic foundation. There are too many prophets in the land that aresleeping and are so lethargic that they don’t even believe they are prophets or walk

in the prophetic at any level. This is a tragedy. God is waking up the prophets andcalling us to walk in alignment with him. Just because you have not been taughtabout the prophetic does not negate the fact that you walk in the prophetic and arecalled to be a prophetic intercessor.

Most people have taken on the title of intercessor and don’t have a problem withwalking in intercession to some degree. The power of prayer has taken on majorinterest in the lives of those who believe God and are walking as disciples of Christ. We have some form of revelation of prayer and have chosen to walk as prayerwarriors. We have come to the foundational place of prayer, but we have yet to fullytap into the area of healing, deliverance, and anointing. This is the disciples walk.

This is the posture of the prophetic intercession. So in order for us to truly engage ina conversation on prayer, we must lay a foundation. The foundation that we willpour will be the foundation of the prophetic and the foundation of the disciplesanointing.

Numbers 12:6-8 (King James Version)6And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD willmake myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.7My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.8With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches;and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid tospeak against my servant Moses?

Visions, Dreams, and ProphecyThere are so many prophets in the land who have visions and dreams, yet it’s hardfor the prophets to reconcile the fact that they walk in the prophetic or are evenprophets. For the purpose of this teaching, I am going to leave off the prophetic partand just say PROPHET. According to Numbers 12:6, God makes himself known tothe prophets by way of dreams and visions.

There has been so many dreams that we have come in contact with that find it hardto realize that they are prophets. This is a hard revelation for people to swallow nomatter how much they read the scriptures. Within itself, this is a trick of the enemy. The enemy does not want prophetic people to fully realize that they are prophets.Once you accept and embrace the fact that you are a prophet, you will then engagein the learning and connection to God on a whole new level. It’s easy to believe thatyou are an intercessor, elder, minister, teacher, and friend. But to fathom that youare a prophet requires a lot of mind shifting and education.

No matter how much you dream, have visions, or hear from God, wrapping yourmind around the fact that you are a prophet is hard for so many to comprehend. Atsome point, you must simply believe God and believe his word. So, at the end of theday, it’s all about your faith. You have to have the faith to know that you are whoGod says you are and that since you have the evidence of that which he has placed in

you, you are the prophet of God, you are the woman of God, you are the man of God.You are who God has called you to be.

This is a foundational step because so many prophetic people have reducedthemselves down to religion and intellectualism that their relationship with God hasbeen skewed and off point for some time now. God is awakening his prophets fromdry and desolate places and bringing us back into protocol and strategic alignment.God is reestablishing the schools of the prophets throughout the land and bringinghis prophets into a place of healing, deliverance, and restoration through truth, change, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Go back up to that scripture and wrap you mind around the fact that God revealshimself to his prophets in the land. Then, wrap your mind around the fact that Godreveals himself through dreams, visions, and speaks to His chosen ones mouth tomouth.

Now let’s keep it moving…

Amos 3:7 (King James Version)7Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servantsthe prophets.

God reveals his secrets to you. God reveals his secret things unto his servants.Prophets are servants of God. Prophets belong to God. Prophets must understandthat they are merely ambassadors of God. That’s why God reveals things to Hisprophets first.

Prophets really struggle with this fact. There are many prophets who want others tosee what they see when they see it. However, you must understand that God opensup the mysteries to his prophets. God opens up the secret things to His prophets. Not all people are afforded the LUXURY of knowing the things of God beforehand. This is a problem with prophetic people because many of us were never trained norin environments that nourished and took care of the prophets. Many of the prophetswere just lost in the shuffle of religion and rituals and left for death, decay, anddestruction.

Too often, prophets end up walking in isolation and fear because they can’t evencommunicate the secret things that have been revealed to them. This is a harshreality with the prophetic and must be realized and reconciled in order for the trueprophets to come forth to be educated in truth and change.

When the prophets are not speaking, the secrets are not being revealed.

This is a problem in the kingdom of God. The prophets are waking up, but theprophets are not speaking. What does all of this have to do with prayer you might be

thinking? Good question. Prophets are intercessors. If you are seeing and hearingthings that others don’t see and hear, then you are walking prayer and standing inthe gap. You are in the place between heaven and earth. You are an open vessel. Youare a portal by which God uses to speak His secret things. If you are not openingyour mouth and are being left in the midst of silence, then you are not releasing theprayer that must go forth.

Prayer is two way communication with God. When God is using a prophet to speak, prayer is going forth. When God is releasing Words to His prophets, prayer is beingreleased. The reason prophets struggle so much with prayer is that we don’t walk inthe full revelation of prayer. We think of prayer as that which is released upwards

into the heaven. In order for you to fully walk in prophetic intercession, you mustunderstand that prayer is also released out and is what comes from the mouth ofGod.

In order for you to fully understand prayer, you are going to have to consideryourself a two-way vessel. If you don’t wrap you mind around this fact, then you willfind yourself limiting the ways God will use you in prayer. This is definitely a shift inthe mind of the budding prophets, but you must understand that when God releasesa word to the prophet, it is the result of prayer. When prophets pray, some form ofprophecy always come forth. The WORD is a result of prayer and the Word is a partof prayer. When prophets pray, the word comes forth. The Word is a part of prayer,

and the word is a result of prayer.

As a prophet, you don’t want to limit your prayer to just praying up and soundingeloquent. When prophets pray, thing shift. When prophets pray, deliverance takesplace. When prophets pray, things change.

I want to go back to the point on the release of the Word. The release of the Wordwhen prophets pray is so important. It’s especially important as the prophetscontinue to convene for class and for consecration.

Luke 4:4 (King James Version)4And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by breadalone, but by every word of God.

You must fully understand that prophets pray not only for the sake of others, butprophets pray that they might get the word. Since as men we don’t live by breadalone, it’s imperative for you to understand the power of the Word. You only receivethe word when you are in the posture to hear from God. The posture to fully hear

and receive from God is the posture of prayer. The Word is important for theprophets and the Word is important for a people. If you don’t have the Word, youdon’t have life. The life of the prophet is built on the Word, the Word from theprophet comes from the posture of prayer. In order to walk in the posture forprayer, you must walk connected and communicating with God. Now ain’t that

something. That’s another case for prophets consecrating themselves unto the Lord.

At this point, I keep hearing Jehosophet and 2 Chronicles 20. Read the entirechapter, but I want to exhort you a little.

2 Chronicles 20:14-15 (King James Version)14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, theson of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in themidst of the congregation;15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou kingJehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by

reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

Jehoshaphat and the people were going through a season of consecration, santificaiton, and fasting. They were in the posture of prayer out of fear. They wereseeking the Lord for direction because they were going through a valley experience.Out of their devotion to God, the Spirit of the Lord came in the mist of thecongregation and fell upon a man of God and thus the famous and often quotedscripture was released. This WORD came from a posture of repentance, fasting, prayer, and supplication unto God.

When prophets pray, the WORD is released. Prophets should always pray forthe release of the WORD. The release of the Word is the release of direction. The release of the WORD is the release of life. The release of the Word is therelease of power. The release of the WORD is the release of direction. Therelease of the Word is the release of protection.

Since man doth not live by bread alone, but every WORD from God. You mustunderstand that your life is in the WORD and your prosperity is in the Word. It’s allin the Word.

When prophets pray and stand as intercessors, the release of the Word is the releasethat is needed for the direction of the people. Prophets hear from God, and peopledon’t always need someone to pray for them. They need what is released to theprophet as a result of prayer. They need the WORD. So when prophets pray, prophets get the Word. That’s one of the truest and most authentic aspects ofprophetic intercession, the WORD.

Let’s reflect back on 2 Kings 5 and Naaman. Naaman received a WORD from theprophet and the Word directed Him towards his healing.

2 Kings 5:9-10 (King James Version)9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of thehouse of Elisha.10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times,

and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. This was the release of the WORD. Because prophetic people are connected to Godand receive His secrets, the WORD is prayer for those that are in need of healing, deliverance and restoration.

For far too long, prophets have reduced the power of the word that comes forth outof prayer. Because so many prophetic people want to understand prayer and how topray, we have fallen short at listening for the word that comes out of prayer. Wehave fallen short at speaking the word that comes from a prayer life. We havemissed the fact that prophets are walking prayer and always pray. Prophetic peopleare in intercession all the time. Beyond the acts of devotion, worship, and times of

consecration, prophets are always in prayer throughout the day.

When prophets align themselves to consecration and prayer, WORDS will constantlybe released to the prophet. These Words of release are designed to stand asIntercession for the people that they are released to. You must reconcile that factthat as you continue to connect to God that God will release Words to you that mustbe released to his vessel. As an ambassador of God, you must speak the Word. Youwill understand the power of your prayer as you begin to release the Words thatGod is giving to you. You will also come to know that the Words that God is releasingto you is designed to bring His people into alignment and allow life to begin to flowto them.

Prophetic Pitfalls in Prayer

There are prophetic pitfalls when it comes to prayer. So many prophets reduceprayer to only praying upwards because this is what people are so used to seeingand hearing. So many prophetic people have been conditioned to hear eloquentprayers. In this dispensation of time, this is a pitfall. God is releasing Words to hispeople that has been birthed from true and authentic prayer. One of the number onepitfalls of the prophets in this season if fully understanding when to pray and whento just release the Word.

Prayer can be a pitfall for the prophets because sometimes prophets are praying theword rather than releasing the Word. Releasing the Word is an important part ofwalking in the prophet. Prophets must know how to speak prayer by releasing theWord rather than releasing the Word back to God. You must know when God isgiving you a Word, it’s to be released to the people and not back to God. After youhave released it to the people or person, you can then pray it through by coming intoagreement for greater revelation in God. However, too often, prophets walk in fear

of release and pray the Word upwards rather than releasing the Word out to theperson or party for which it is intended. This is truly a pitfall of the prophetic. This istruly a pitfall for prophetic intercessors. This is truly a pitfall for prophets.

Don’t allow the people’s perception of prayer throw you off.

2 Kings 5:10-14 (King James Version)10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He willsurely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God,and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters ofIsrael? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in arage.13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the

prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? howmuch rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to thesaying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

As a prophet, you have to be careful of what other people’s perception of theprophetic is in this season. God is rising up the prophets to release the Word. God’sWord is being revealed and released in this season. You don’t want to reduce youranointing to what other people think and feel it should be. You must know when topray up and when to release out. Sometimes God will allow you to do both, but youmust know when it’s appropriate for you to release the Word. Releasing the Word isan important aspect of prayer, healing, and deliverance. You must be able to speakand release the Word from the realm of the spirit.

Fear is another pitfall.

Because so many prophetic vessels lack the training, insight, and support that isneeded to grow in their gifts and call, fear had been a major block in the release ofthe word. So many prophets are seeing, hearing, and understanding that God isusing them or wants to use them to a greater extent, but fear is bringing abouttorment. Fear is the antithesis of faith. The only way that the prophet is going torelease fear is to walk in a greater realm of faith. God is calling His prophets to soarabove religion and religious witchcraft. God is calling his prophets to shut down thefear of destruction, decay, and death. God is calling His prophets to even ridthemselves of fear of failure and move faithfully forward in Him. God did not give usthe spirit of fear, so He is calling the prophet to walk in the faith that is needed tounderstand the release that is flowing in this season.

2 Timothy 1:7 (King James Version)7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of asound mind.

Romans 8:15 (King James Version)15

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have receivedthe Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

1 John 4:18 (King James Version)18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hathtorment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Faith pounces on the pitfall of Fear

As you meditate on the above passages of scripture, you will find that you are goingto have to release fear as you continue to walk in the things of God. As you posture

yourself as a prophetic intercessor, fear cannot be a factor in your life. You mustrelease fear in order to receive and release the Word of God. In order to walk inprayer and release prayer, you are going to have to get a handle on fear by alwaysforging ahead in faith. Faith is what is going to shut down your fear when it comes toprayer and releasing the Word. Faith is what you life by, and faith is what you walkby. As a prophetic vessel, you are called to be walking, living, breathing, andspeaking faith. Every word that comes from God is a word of faith, and is obtainedand fully realized by faith. At the end of the day, fear is a pitfall and faith is aproducer of power. It’s all about faith.

Hebrews 11:1-3 (King James Version)1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things notseen.2For by it the elders obtained a good report.3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word ofGod, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Habakkuk 2:4 (King James Version)4Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:but the just shall live byhis faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (King James Version)6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God mustbelieve that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Let’s wrap this lesson up…It’s a wrap.So at this point, you should understand that there are dynamics to prayer, and thesedynamics will be released to a greater extent as you come to understand who youare and the flow that God is giving you as a prophet. You should also begin to

connect with yourself and understand when you are walking in fear and when youare walking in faith. The life of a prophetic intercessor is a life of faith. The life of aprophet is a life of faith.

Just know that accepting who you are is the beginning of walking as an intercessor

and being an intercessor. Walking as an intercessor is spiritual, and you mustcontinue to connect with your spirit and connect with God. God is a spirit, and theythat worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The spirit of prophecy isthe spirit of truth. When prophets pray, words and truth are revealed and releasedfrom the spirit realm.

God is waking up the prophets and bringing them into alignment and protocol. Godis releasing greater power to the prophets and calling us forth from dead and dryplaces to speak truth, change, revitalization, and rejuvenation into the lives of Hispeople. God is waking up the prophets that He might wake up a nation of people. Forwe are a chosen generation that has been set aside in God as royal, holy, and

peculiar.

GRUNT WORK

Take the time to continue to mediate on this Word of release and the passages ofscriptures that have been extrapolated from the Bible for your study. Take the timeto meditate and ponder on the revelations that God is giving you. Take the time towrite those revelations in your journal.

Also, meditate on these scriptures and place them in your mind as a point of prayerand remembrance of the power of prayer. Forward March.

Luke 18:1 (King James Version)1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, thatmen ought always to pray,and not to faint;

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (King James Version)1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, andgiving of thanks, be made for all men;2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceablelife in all godliness and honesty.3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (King James Version)17 Pray without ceasing.
