• No contextual value added

• 3 levels of progress not good enough

• New curriculum

• The LA- role, relationships

• Budget pressure- chains, federations, academy, local pay scales

• Dashboard

• Snap inspections for LAs

• Floor standard- what next for primary accountability?

• Homework free schools

• The e-book rules, OK?

• Two hours of core PE each week for all key stages

Core requirements for success

• Diligence

• Do right

• Ingenuity

Diligence

A prerequisite of great accomplishment

Diligence

• It does not take genius

• Constant and earnest effort

• Success is possible anywhere by anyone

• Each success begins with a readiness to recognise problems and a determination to remedy them

• Moral clarity

• Ingenuity

• A willingness to try

• Always look for what more you can do

Do right

• Our fight is to do what is right by our pupils even though what is right is not always easy or clear.

Do right

• Set aside your ego

• There is no reason we cannot aim for everyone to do better

• Do what is right and do it now

Ingenuity

• Character not superior intellect is what counts most

Ingenuity

• A reflection on failure and a constant searching for new solutions

• We need to do two things: measure ourselves and be more open about what we are doing

What’s on the horizon?

• Go as far as you can see then see how far you can go

• What are the three most significant challenges you anticipate facing over the next 18 months?

• Enjoy the present

• Look forward to the future with optimism and hope

• Make sure you live!!
