Queensland Symphony Orchestra will present Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert, featuring a screening of the complete film with Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score performed live to the film. Star Wars: A New Hope follows the story of a young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he begins to discover his destiny when, searching for a lost droid, he is saved by reclusive Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness). As civil war rages in the galaxy, and Rebel forces struggle against the evil Galactic Empire, Luke and Obi-Wan enlist the aid of hotshot pilot, Han Solo (Harrison Ford). Joined by the quirky droid duo R2-D2 and C-3PO, the unlikely team sets out

STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE

to rescue Rebel leader Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and make use of the stolen plans to destroy the Empire’s ultimate weapon. In a legendary confrontation, the rogue group mounts an attack against the Death Star for a climactic battle with the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. Since the release Star Wars: A New Hope nearly 40 years ago, the Star Wars saga has had a seismic impact on both cinema and culture, inspiring audiences around the world with its mythic storytelling, captivating characters, ground-breaking special effects and iconic musical scores composed by John Williams. Legendary composer Williams is well known for scoring all eight of

the Star Wars saga films to date, beginning with 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope for which he earned an Academy Award® for Best Original Score. His scores for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens and most recently The Last Jedi were each nominated for Best Original Score. The Crucible7 April – 19 May 2018on selected dates Tickets $28 - $34, student, concession and group discounts available Bookings online atartstheatre.com.au/thecrucibleA thinly veiled stab at the McCarthy-era witch hunts of suspected communists, Arthur Miller’s Tony Award-winning play The Crucible was first performed on Broadway in 1953. This period in recent American history has contemporary parallels and for that reason, Brisbane Arts Theatre presents one of the most powerful

and unnerving plays ever written in April 2018. Set during the Salem witch trials, a puritan society believes in the power of darkness and its ability to wreak havoc if it is unleashed. And havoc is indeed wrought as more and more innocent women are arrested and tried for witchcraft. A gradually increasing hysteria gathers strength and influence, a small untruth becomes reality and a community is ripped apart.
