Miami Learning Center Marks First Decade

Miami University’s Voice of America Learning Center has completed its first decade of serving students,businesses, and organiza�ons in our area. Opened in January 2009, the Learning Center offers Miamiundergraduate and graduate courses at the Center’s convenient loca�on in the I-75 corridor.

This fall Miami completed a major renova�on project, making the strategic move to relocate theCommerce Department from Miami’s Regional Campuses to West Chester, and launching the MiamiUniversity Commerce Innova�on Hub.

Commerce is one of the fastest growing bachelor degree programs at Miami’s regional campuses, withmore than 700 students currently enrolled in online, face-to-face, and hybrid classes. In 2018, graduatesfrom the department’s Small Business Management program earned an average salary of more than$56,000, and 97% of the graduates were employed or furthering their educa�on.

The Innova�on Hub will bring together the faculty exper�se of the Commerce Department, as newdegree programs are developed to meet regional economic needs, and to offer non-credit professionaltraining and development opportuni�es.

Commerce now joins Miami’s na�onally-ranked Professional MBA program that began at the LearningCenter back in 2009. In addi�on, Miami offers graduate cer�fica�ons, licensures and degree programsfor educators, combining the Center’s convenient loca�on with Miami’s TEAM scholarships for qualifiedteachers and administrators.

The Voice of America Learning Center works collabora�vely with other sectors of our communitythrough ongoing art exhibi�ons, and serving as a site for classes for Miami University’s Ins�tute forLearning in Re�rement.

Community is Focus of West Chester’sNew Logo

It’s a brand new day in West Chester Township. Following a six month branding campaign, West Chesterunveiled a new look this summer that reflects thecommunity’s strengths and personality in a modern way.The project began in February with workshops and focusgroups spearheaded by township leadership incollabora�onwith Guide Studio, and culminated in the development of a new logo in July.

“We wanted a logo that more clearly represented how our residents view our community and helpscommunicate more effec�vely about our strengths and the pride of our residents,” said Barbara Wilson,director of public informa�on & engagement for the Township.

The logo replaces the West Chester oval wordmark, an important part of the Township's legacy that hadbeen in use since 1998. West Chester is commi�ed to upda�ng exis�ng branded signage in a mannerthat is fiscally responsible, acknowledging that this process will take some �me to complete. As part of the rebrand, the West Chester Development Council logo also received a makeover. The newWCDC logo maintains its sunrise imagery while fi�ng the look and feel of the community’s overarchingbrand pale�e. Ambassadors of Excellence Celebra�on at Ohio Eagle Distribu�ng

The Budweiser Clydesdales recently paid a special visit to the team at Ohio Eagle Distribu�ng in WestChester Township. The Clydesdales were part of the Ambassadors of Excellence Celebra�on, signifyingthe team at Ohio Eagle Distribu�ng is among the best of the best of Anheuser-¬Busch Wholesalers inthe country! Over the past three years, Ohio Eagle Distribu�ng in West Chester has ranked in the top three forna�onal wholesaler performance. As a result of their efforts, Ohio Eagle was able to achieve AOEAmbassador status for the very first �me. In 2018, these great results made them one of 38 wholesalersto achieve Gold Status and one of just 10 Anheuser-¬Busch Wholesalers to achieve AOE Ambassadorstatus.
