Level Loop Wizard When tuning a level controller for a surge vessel the goal is to find tuning parameters that minimize disturbances to the process. There are two new styles of tuning for these situations: maximum use of vessel capacity and return to setpoint. If one of these options are selected the user is prompted for some information about the vessel, no setpoint, measurement or controller output data is needed. Tuning parameters are calculated for the controller algorithm you have selected for the level controller. Want to see how the level will react before you put tuning parameters in the DCS? If ExperTune PlantTriage has identified a model (AMCT) or you have established a favorite model it will be shown along with the standard control loop simulation panel. Adjustments to the vessel data will update the tuning results and simulation plots. All vessel parameters, tuning results and models can be documented in the tuning AMCT summary table for the loop. What’s new in Expertune PlantTriage v18 Tuning performance data For Expertune PlantTriage v18 we have added tuning performance metrics to the PID Tuning and Analysis window in the browser interface. After clicking on the tuning fork , the Performance Evaluation tab is available. A Performance Summary panel has been added below the PID Tuning Parameters. Use these two features to assess the effect new tuning parameters will have on valve duty, RRT, robustness, and performance. The summary panel updates when the robustness curve is adjusted.

Increased analysis time resolutionConducting interaction analysis can now be done with greater resolution. The analysis tools Process Interaction Map and Interaction Hot Spots, are used to help determine the underlying cause of an upset or unusual event. The new lead/lag times are no longer limited to the 11/6 predefined values. In addition, users may now select the time anchor point down to the minute. This will help greatly in analyzing short duration events.

Browser page for plant on-scan/off-scan managementConsistent with a long term plan to migrate functionality available in the engineering interface to the browser interface, Expertune PlantTriage v18, supports plant scan management from the browser. This capability still requires the user to be assigned to the administrator level in order to set the scanning on or off for a plant. Select the Support item from the left hand menu to access the Plant Scan Management page.

CybersecurityExpertune PlantTriage v18 contains two major enhancements in this area. We have added support for HTTPS in browser interfaces and web service communications. Users may now configure the system to use encryption on all transmissions between a user and the PlantTriage server, and between a PlantTriage and an Enterprise server. The second improve-ment is in the browser pages themselves and the way they interact with each other. These changes have made the interface more secure, robust, and less vulnerable to attack.
