What's been happening? The Social Services' old office is now an empty shell and the boxing club is now being stripped out. The mast climbers (the scaffold towers which will support the access platforms) are now on two sides of the building. You will soon see engineers through your windows carrying out surveys. This could be at any time during working hours, Monday to Friday. Upper walkway staircase: the staircase down from the walkway to Grenfell Road is being cleaned daily because more people are using it. NOISE ALERT No.1! The work we’re doing will get a lot noisier. First we need to cut some holes on each landing for the new heating pipes. This will start very soon and will be carried out five floors at a time (two days per floor), from the top down. As it’s causing a lot dust as well as noise, we'll be making door-to-door visits to explain what's happening and writing individual letters. For those who need to escape for a few hours, alternative daytime accommodation will be available in the refurbished community rooms on the corner of Grenfell Road as well as a neighbouring flat these will be much quieter. NOISE ALERT No.1! The work we’re doing will get a lot noisier. First we need to cut

some holes on each landing for the new heating pipes. This will start very soon and will be carried out five floors at a time (two days per floor), from the top down. As it’s causing a lot dust as well as noise, we'll be making door-to-door visits to explain what's happening and writing individual letters. For those who need to escape for a few hours, alternative daytime accommodation will be available in the refurbished community rooms on the corner of Grenfell Road as well as a neighbouring flat – these will be much quieter.

Satellite dishes and communal TV sockets: thank you to everyone with satellite dishes who, since the last newsletter, has asked to be connected to the new dishes on the roof. Once the new cladding goes up satellite dishes will no longer be permitted on the outside of the tower. If you have not responded yet to SCCI’s request for access for connecting you to new equipment on the roof dish or fitting a communal TV socket – please do so now. Call them on 01279 630 563 from 9.00am–5.00pm Monday to Friday.

So what's next? NOISE ALERT No.2! Between October and December we will be erecting a frame

on the outside of building on which to place the insulation and cladding. This work will also be noisy and the same arrangements will be made for those who need to escape for a few hours now and again. Demolition work: the redundant lift to the right of the old main entrance door will be taken down, together with part of the external staircase and the remaining canopy. Cladding: we are awaiting planning approval for the actual type of cladding. The Council were given a small range of colours and materials to chose from (still temporarily on show, as the mock up – see the last newsletter). World's Biggest Coffee Morning: on 26 September we'll be participating in Macmillan’s (the cancer charity) World's Biggest Coffee Morning. It will take place 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm inside the main entrance of Grenfell Tower. We will be taking the opportunity to ask guests about current activity and future plans. Upper walkway stairwell: it will be repainted. Children’s playground: this is going to be used to temporarily store building materials. The new playground will open next year.

The remaining dishes will be removed

Resident Liaison Office: there will be a new doorway and staircase formed - connecting the office to the tower, making it safer and easier to visit. Home visits: Please call us to book one in if you have not yet had a visit; otherwise, as we have reported before, you will be visited unannounced. All Rydon employees wear ID badges and corresponding numbered hi-visibility vests. Don’t let anyone in your home who does not have professional identification (for security reasons we cannot show what an ID looks like). If you are unsure about anyone knocking at your door 9-5pm on weekdays, call freephone 0800 112 3239. Coffee mornings/afternoons: the next one will be 10am-12noon on Thursday 11 September, in flat 145. If you haven’t already been to one of these, it’s an excellent opportunity to come along and meet the team, ask questions and find out more about the regeneration works.

Contacting Rydon: It is very important that you know who at Rydon to contact and how. You can call us free on 0800 112 3239 or email [email protected].
